Tangipahoa River at Robert (85402)
Currently at 20.22 feet. Flood stage 15 feet. Historic high mark 25.87 feet. Gage located couple of miles north of I-12. Just a little before this river empties into Lake Pontchartrain.
This dam, the lake, and the park are about 30 miles from where I grew up in Centreville, MS. I fondly remember going there as a kid.
Just make sure to save Amite. What would we do without the Crawfish Festival?
Isaac has finally got some big time movement and is moving quickly off to the north. There is one last long feeder band however coming in off the gulf. It happens to be traveling right through the dams area right now.
That’s silly. They did not know that the dam might break. I know of no previous break. It’s not one of the usual suspects when it comes to hurricane problems. This is hours away from the coast and not land at sea level. It’s significantly higher, 320 ft above sea level.
Some of the costal areas, I agree with you. In that area, you are way off.
The storm was only a storm, not a life threatening hurricane. ... at least that’s what they were fed by the regieme. Not a RNC killer, hence, downplay!

This is a non-emergency notification being made under 10CFR50.72(b)(3)(xiii) due to the potential loss of emergency preparedness capabilities due to the effects of hurricane Isaac.
"At approximately 0735, the Emergency Operations Facility (EOF) diesel generator was discovered to be tripped and not available, leaving the primary EOF without AC electrical power and, therefore, unavailable since normal AC power was also lost due to weather conditions. Efforts to repair the EOF diesel generator have been initiated and personnel have verified the Alternate EOF is functional. State, local and federal agencies have been informed of the plan to use the alternate EOF in case of an emergency preparedness activation.
"With essential personnel being sequestered at the Waterford 3 power block, the critical EOF functions can be performed from the on-site Technical Support Center (TSC), which is housed within the Control Room ventilated envelope.
"At approximately 0620 CDT, Entergy Operations, Inc. Emergency Preparedness staff discovered that the NRC Emergency Notification Systems (ENS) was not working. NRC Headquarters was notified at approximately 0715 CDT and was given an alternate phone number to contact Waterford 3. The ENS phone had previously been verified functional at approximately 0330 CDT. The NRC Health Physics Network (HPN) telephone line was verified to be functional at 0922 CDT."

My greataunt had a piece of really beautiful property when I was little with a dirt wall dam that created a small, maybe 10 acre pond. In 1990, the Augusta area flooded and the dam collapsed. The property was ruined and she passed away a couple of years later. Consequently, Augusta itself is protected by an old dirt levee.

These natural catastrophes makes it pretty clear to me. We’re going to get hit with even bigger ones and we need to get prepared.
Instead of finding another war to fight for the benefit of other countries, these other countries should be paying and subsidizing us fully. But how does another country subsidize the lost lives of young Americans? Yet some still believe we should go to war and put the bill on the American Chinese credit card along with not taking care of our fellow Americans.
This war BS in the ME needs to end now, and we need to start taking care of we Americans and employing Americans doing preventive maintenance on the USA. If the ME can’t figure out how to get along, let them turn it into molten glass. I’m tired of hearing about it.
