“Just one isolated poll. Rasmussen has him down by 10”

I sense that the polls for the Missouri Senate race are in a high state of flux, and it’s going to take two to three more weeks before things settle down there and we get a clearer picture as to what Mr. Akin’s chances may be, after “the fog of the media moment” clears off.

I don’t believe that Mr. Akin will be relinquishing his candidacy. He’s gonna stay in and fight to the end — a spirit that demonstrates an intestinal fortitude that too many folks in this forum seem to have forgotten about.

For that reason, the RNC’s decision to continue to withhold support — even if the races “evens out” — shows why the Pubbies have aptly won for themselves the right to be called “the stupid party”.

The party can refuse to support him, and he may lose (or he may win anyway).

But they would be better off to provide at least some measure of support, both advisory and financial, with the chance that he can win.

Frankly we need all the votes we can get in Congress. Mr. Akin’s vote may make a difference, especially when his conservative record is brought to bear.

If Todd Akin can pull this off without the support of the national party, he is going to become an influential conservative at the national level. How many folks here remember Jesse Helms?
