RE: the principle of voting for the devil you do know starts to apply.

Well again we have two devils. One is pro-life, for limited government, for lower taxes, for Medicare Reform and against Obamacare.

The other stands for the opposite of what the previous devil stands for (but is a devil nonetheless).

Who will Missourians choose? The first arrogant SOB or the second arrogant DOB?

Not a tough choice for me.

I go for what’s best for the country. The first SOB is my choice of a bad lot.

The above is the (as you categorize it for some strange reason) “liberal path” that I recommend. I happen to think that it is the conservative path. I think that the path YOU ARE ON is the liberal path—you and your relentless jihad (look at your posting history) against a Republican Senate candidate

Yes it is a liberal path, especially since you are suggesting that conservatives rally around a conservative gaffe prone Joe Biden, and he can leave the race but his political ego won't let him.

Again why should conservatives have to vote for more hubris.

There is a saying, "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

I'm just trying to prevent that "shame on me moment".

The man has already admitted his mistake.

What more do Missourians ( especially those who changed their minds because of this gaffe ) want?
Let’s put it this way — you were inclined to vote for Akin until he made this stupid gaffe. Why were you inclined to vote for him? Maybe because you like his OVERALL ( emphasis ) stance on issues -— limited government, repealing Obamacare, fighting for a balanced budget, a flatter and more understandable tax code, etc.
Are you now going to vote for McCaskill who is AGAINST all these things that attracted you to Akin in the first place simply because he made one gaffe ( for which he apologized for )?
If the answer is ‘yes’, then that tells me about the kind of voter you are. You are after PERFECTION, or maybe STYLE more than substance.
In which case, you REALLY deserve McCaskill and Obamacare and a bankrupt country and all that goes with it.”

This discussion is way out of hand. I don’t know anything about Todd Akin, but I do know that he has spoken the unspeakable and the die is now cast for him. All this ballyhoo about Conservatives sticking with their guy is a load of crap. Akin is done! It does not matter now whether he’s “really a good guy or not.” He has suffered a fatal, self-inflicted wound and will not win against McCaskell. The fact that is the face of insurmountable evidence that he’s cooked his own goose, he’s staying in the race knowing full well he’s going to loose. We need to have the stomach to use every device to force him out. That’s what the RATS would do ( can you say Bob Torricelli?). If we are unwilling to play the game that way, then we deserve to be the minority party.

Akin has proven that this race is all about him, and he only.

Not really. It is also about his supporters as well -- those that have given him their time and money to run for this office and who still want him to stay in it and try to win it.

RE: Despite a poor record, she will crush an idiot like Akin, while a Talent would win now.

Well, that tells me what the majority of Missouri voters are like right there.

Now if Conservative Missourians don’t pull the lever for Akin because of this gaffe, I am not going to weep for them when they cry later about how their freedoms are being taken away. YOU DID THIS TO YOURSELVES.

Not to be a nose-picker, but in your Post #22 you state,"...Akin can do the right thing, and resign before Sept. 25." Akin holds no position to "resign" from. He must petition the court to remove his name from the ballot. Even if they consent, the MO SOS can contest their decision. She has nothing to lose and she is a rabid Demwit.

Akin, and Akin alone can petition the court. Ain't gonna happen, IMO.

To vote for Ma McCaskill or not vote for Akin will result in more gun bans. Tax hikes. Kenya-care. Inevitably...

Well, many baseball and football fans have their disappointments also, such as Bill Buckner losing the World Series in 1986, and this race is much more important than baseball or Akin's ego.

Akin messed up, and has put the repeal of Obamacare in grave danger.

Akin had until September 25 to petition for a court order to remove his name off the ballot...

Boy, how time flies, just yesterday it was August 26, and today it's already late September.

if you permit the media, to misquote Akin and science, and force him to quit, then, they will go after Ryan next.
If Ryan was to come out swinging and say something strong on life too (which I wish he would but he won't, as long as he's running with Romney), like Santorum did, there would be screaming regardless. But back to Akin, this kerfuffle has little to do with his gaffe IMO. It was his last line that has folks going crazy, because he said:
But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.
Anyone that has a heart for the unborn (and their mothers), would understand Akin does too. It's the ones who have "attacked their children" (or know someone close who has) that are upset, as it's very difficult to see yourself as one who allows murder.

I am not aware of any way to save a baby in the event of an ectopic pregnancy. Perhaps one day, the medical establishment will find a way to do it.

if Missouri were such a red state wed have senator Talent right now.

No -- If Talent had not made so many compromises when in office and angered so many conservatives, he'd be "senator Talent right now".

There fixed it.

Talent was professorial in affect. The year was 2006. Exploding muslims. IEDs. Third Fallujah. Bush unpopular and pounded on 24/7. MJ Fox in MO pushing for stem cell research. Yet Talent lost by 48K votes.

Akin is the candidate as of this moment. Period.

And you enjoy having Claire McCaskill win re-election.
*********************************************************
You and I share some similarities and some differences.

1. Similarities: We BOTH would like to see Akin withdraw and we BOTH think it unlikely he can win.

2. Differences: If he does NOT withdraw, I RECOMMEND that conservative Missourians still vote for him if they can bring themselves to do that. YOU ARE ACTIVELY CAMPAIGNING AGAINST AKIN.

So I’ll leave it up to folks to decide which of us they feel will enjoy having McCaskill win. My thought (or at least my hope) is that both of us will be saddened. I KNOW that I will be saddened. But, to be honest, I’m much less sure about you and your motivations. Again, enjoy the jihad you are on.
