When I was in high school, a long time ago, we had a failing grade of 68, which was an E. if you got an E (from 60-68) you had the option of going to summer school, below 60 was an F and you had to take the whole course over.
We had A, B, C, D and E. E was failing and was 74 and lower. 93 and up was A.
