I was just making the point that “remilitarizing” them is not an ad hoc process, there is a specific, realistic plan: resources, locations, units and a schedule are in place.

The Thunderbirds serve another purpose: it is important to have an elite with tangible accomplishments to produce leaders, and instructors and to test the limits of men and machines.

Before Brunswick NAS was closed during the latest round of base closings, the annual air show was free and always featured the Blue Angels.

My son is a P-3 pilot and instructor. He was among the last to leave Brunswick. I was sorry to see the base close.

Another important function of air shows is to rattle the bones of our domestic communists. The message is: don’t even think it. This show certainly rattled these comrades. A periodic display of might is well worth the cost.
