"Even he doesn't defend his statement. Why do you?"

First of all there is nothing to defend. He did nothing wrong. Second.... I defend it because anything he says will be twisted to make him out to be worse than obama just like you're doing here.
If people with a spine do not support him he will be left to spin in the wind and I can't allow that to happen. If I can bring some levity to the discussion I will. If I can shame friggin idiots for embarrassing themselves by pushing this good, honorable man under the bus then I will.

Was that a clear enough answer for you?

Huh? Who said he's worse than Obama? I said he gave a dumb answer to an easy question. It has had a predictable effect on his campaign. You can whine all you want that his words have been "twisted." The bottom line is that the majority of people in both parties in his own state want him to drop out of the race because he gave a dumb answer to an easy question. Nobody tricked him, nobody brought this about except Todd Akin. Like it or not, politics is about persuading people to support you. On that basis, he is a failure. I hope he can recover, but that's where things stand right now, and it's all his fault and nobody else's.
