I see Akin as simply a naive guy who has been lucky to some degree in the past in local politics in the state. He’s not witty, charming, or that intelligent. When some unknown PAC came up during the primary and pushed an ad or two at the right time....he never asked who they were or where their money came from. For the amount they tossed into their ads....it didn’t take much to put him into the right position.
As for now? I think the naive of the guy, and those around him.....simply dictate that he continue on. He can’t win, but he’ll get the forty percent level which looks decent.
As for him dropping out and some Tea-Party campaign suddenly erupting? My guess is that if you had forty-five days....you just might be able to pull a write-in vote for some person that independents might drift to. If he waits this out to the last week....then it pretty much destroys the election anyway.
I just want to get that Senate Seat, it was ours for the taking, but this guy actually thinks that going from up 11 to now down 10 is somehow a “good thing.” He’ll probably lose by 15 points in November, maybe more, but if a miracle does take place and he wins I will be very happy. I dont care if its Akin or someone else I just want to see McCaskill lose, can’t stand that woman, she is Obama’s #1 Dem for a reason
