Akin was not even the clear choice of conservatives. In the primary, John Brunner was endorsed by both Missouri Right to Life and the National Right to Life. Sarah Steelman was endorsed by Sarah Palin. Akin was endorsed by the Democratic Party.
The Democrats carefully nurtured Akin with millions of dollars in campaign money because he was the candidate they most wanted to run against. (Akin thinks all those Democrats voting for him in the primary merely shows that he's got tremendous crossover appeal!)
There's no rehabilitating this guy. It's a waste of money. His comments are going to cost Republicans an easy Senate seat in a moment of crisis for the nation. This one man's stubborn refusal to bow out could cost us control of the U.S. Senate, House seats in Missouri, Senate seats elsewhere and maybe even the White House itself.
Other than that, there's not all that much riding on this.

But this selfish man has decided to play a game of chicken with the Republican Party. He thinks that by stubbornly refusing to step aside, Republicans will be forced to give him money simply because they need that Senate seat.
Republicans should call his bluff. This is no time to be counting on people to check the FEC reports to see that the GOP has cut off his money.

There is talk of a compromise candidate rising if Akin drops out, one who didn’t run in the primary. One name is state Auditor Tom Schwich, a former aide to John Danforth and a nationally recognized expert on narco-terrorism.
Another name is rising, that of Ann Wagner, who is currently running to succeed Akin in Congress. Here’s an article on the topic:
I hold out hope that perhaps Mike Huckabee can persuade Todd Akin to drop out of the race, provided that Huckabee can be persuaded to make the request.
Follow the money, see who is paying him off.

Coulter is not helping conservatism. The media has made this a disaster. They won't give up until they white wash all hot button issues to help Romney.
Akin is not helping conservatism either. In fact, he’s inflicting damage on our cause everyday he stays in the race.

Which would be a slap in the face of those who spent time, money and sweat to run in the primary. If the runner up isn't first to be picked, they deserve to lose, as they will, big time.
Yeah, this is going to help... keep bashing the Pro-life candidate publicly, over and over. Is she getting a kickback from McCaskill campaign?
I just hope it’s not a coward like Akin.
Really pathetic to watch supposed “conservative” pundits fall into the Democrat propaganda machines diversion and distraction trap.
I’d love to slap the faces of the democrats that crossed over and voted for Akin.
