Hurricane Watch has been issued from the mouth of the Mississippi
River eastward to Indian Pass Florida...not including metropolitan
New Orleans.

The Tropical Storm Warning has been extended northward and westward
along the Florida West Coast and the Florida Panhandle to Indian Pass.

Tropical Storm Isaac located ~205 miles ESE Key West, FL
Moving NW at 18mph
Max sustained winds 65mph, 995mb
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles
from the center.
and Isaac is expected to be at or near hurricane strength when it reaches
the Florida Keys.

State of emergency declared in Jefferson Parish; Jindal, Landrieu schedule press conferences

Jefferson Parish President John Young has declared a state of emergency for Jefferson Parish in anticipation of the effects of Tropical Storm Isaac. Meanwile, Gov. Bobby Jindal and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu have called press conferences this afternoon to update the status of emergency preparations.

The governor will meet first with the Unified Command Group and then will hold the press conference at 3:15 p.m. at the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness in Baton Rouge.

Landrieu will hold a press conference in City Hall at 2:45 p.m. today.
