Tampa police find 'suspicious' bricks, pipes on rooftop just days before Republican convention
TAMARA LUSH, Associated Press
August 21, 2012
TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa police said Tuesday that they confiscated pipes, bricks and other "suspicious" items from the rooftop of a downtown building located about a mile from where next week's Republican National Convention will be held.
Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor said she believes the items were put there by protesters for use during RNC demonstrations. She added that some RNC-related graffiti was also found at the building, but wouldn't elaborate.
"It is disconcerting but it's not surprising," she said. "This is normally how things proceed leading up to a large event."
Tampa will host the RNC at a downtown stadium from Aug. 27-30.

was it put there by those sensitive, caring liberals?
Still not clear on what differentiates ‘suspicious’ rooftop debris from ‘normal/unsuspicious’ rooftop debris...
These tactics mirror what the OWS orcs pulled in San Francisco last May.
Be careful out there, folks.
I’m gonna guess that what makes them “suspicious” is there location.
I wonder if they found any suspicious grenades, as opposed to the regular kind.
My two cents..
Half the streets in Tampa are brick cobblestone. There are plenty of weapons the morons will use.
The city spent many hundreds of thousands of dollars planting palm trees and flowers down Ashley Drive then on the right as you pass the museums, it looks like Stalag 17 with 8 foot high barriers and fences to keep out the scum. What a shame.
FYI- the grafitti was a weird looking Dracula dude with “99” next to him..
Have you seen the latest forecast???? Im just across the bridge.
Don’t be blamin’ those liberals! They just don’t know what a rectangular rock-like thinga-ma-jig was and as for that long tubular thing, they just never seen a crack pipe that big.
I remember that.
It’s kinda funny that the folks who placed this stuff didn’t think the area within a 20 block radius of this place will be scrubbed clean enough to eat off of.
Yes it has.
In Chicago, in 1968.
And it did not work out well, neither for the anarchists, nor the Democrats.
Bring it, OWS.
Put your stink on Obama.
I have. I was joking, but as I mentioned on another thread, at this time of the year the weather folks can't say for sure what's going to happen from one day to the next, much less a week.
If Isaac does happen by, maybe then all the hand-wringers around here will stop whining about the drought. We will see.
The also found roofing nails that could be used as weapons, as well as tar shingles that can choke a man to death. And if you disassemble the roof fan, you have six machetes that can decapitate someone.
And don’t forget the pigeon poop. Stuff is deadly. Clearly planted there.
The cops should’ve staked it out and grab `em as they stockpile or whatever.
Thanks. I didn’t know who that dude was..
Uhhh... yeah. Right. You’ve got it all figured out.
