I just want to point out the obvious here.

Why is it that one asinine comment from a giy with a high-90s conservative ranking MUST!!! be tossed overboard while there’s still time and attacked by all these ‘conservative’ freepers, but the guy in the presidential slot with a lifetime of even more stupid statements and actual legislative actions must be rallied around because the primaries are over and there is no time left?

McCaskill chose him as an opponent because of his vulnerability. The potential for damaging fallout that affects other candidates is significant.

Love him or hate him, Romney is a known quantity. At this point, he's a pretty smooth campaigner.
