I figured that would ruffle some feathers.

With regards to “legitimate” rape, he never said the woman wills away a fetus He is referring to the biology of sexual intercourse and fertilization. You may disagree with it but at least be accurate in your description. I also reject your outrageous conclusion that he thinks rape is no big deal. Further, it is clear from the context he is not suggesting some rapes are legitimate and some aren’t. To say so is dishonest.

Listen, until three days ago I never heard of this guy. I do know that I am sick and tired of the Republican establishment (and now conservative pundits) throwing people under the bus at the drop of a hat for the sole purpose of political gain. That stinks and demonstrates a lack of integrity.

The Democrats will go after him anyway so it doesn’t do any good. What this does show is that the Republican establishment has no faith in the people of Missouri.

Your last paragraph demonstrates this political calculation and, yes, I understand the numbers. I am just sick and tired of being treated like a piece on a chess board.

Pete, forget the “legitimate” comment. His argument was that a woman can “shut down” and therefore not get pregnant. PURE BS. Now, this reflects not a “mistake,” or some “bad information,” but a world view that doesn’t understand the essence of rape, and therefore is hugely offensive to women.

Right up until the weekend, no one knew he was bat-crap crazy.

The GOP movers and shakers are making a rational decision - do not back crazy candidates.

One simple question Pete. And to any who are attempting to defend him.
Why are you defending him?
If he was not the nominee would you say anything in his favor?
I don’t understand any of the, what seems to me,knee jerk defense of this man. Its been written over and over and i heard it from a friend in Missouri as well that he benefited from dem crossovers trying to make him the nominee.

Seems like the definition of establishment changes with the wind. I swear that it wasn’t until today that Allen West and Sarah Palin were lumped in with the establishment. Let’s be honest here Pete. Damned near everyone has said that Akin should withdraw, including several figures that you can’t legitimately call establishment republicans.

He screwed up, badly and it’s cost him. That’s that, end of story.
