Sarah Palin endorsed a third-party candidacy against Rep. Todd Akin, R-Mo., if he persists in his refusal to drop out of the general election campaign after making startling comments about rape and abortion.
Weve got to take back the Senate and Missouri is a must-win state, Palin told Fox News Greta Van Susteren. The way we do that is to have someone like Sarah Steelman be able to run even if its as a third-party candidate to be able to run and help us take this back. Palin endorsed Steelman in the primary, which was regarded as showdown for the privilege of challenging the deeply-unpopular Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.
The former Alaska governor reiterated her support for a third-party run when considering how conservatives should respond if Akin does not drop out before the state prints the ballots for the general election.
Maybe it is a third-party run of Sarah Steelman that I could get behind, she said. Granted, the status quo has got to go [Steelman's campaign motto] would be an odd name for a third party, but well coin it, well adopt it, well run with it if thats what it takes in order to get a common sense, constitutional, happens-to-be-pro-life woman in Missouri to clean up this mess that has been created and at the same time take back the Senate.

LOL. So first it's a problem of taking him out of context.
Now it's the audience's fault for "taking issue with his entire quote!?!"
Intellectually, he's apparently less agile than Sheila Jackson Lee. I don't want either idiot making laws.
Politically, he's dumber than Joe Biden.
Morally, he's putting himself above the pro-life cause. He could have formed an alliance and endorsed Brunner or Steelman pro-life conservatives now while there's time...instead, he's giving the RINO's a stellar opportunity to force his replacement later in the game.
No, it wasn't just a "grammatical error", as the Clueless Selfish Swine Todd Akin keeps insisting. I knew immediately what he meant by "legitimate rape". It's this bizarre statement (in bold) that's been setting off alarm bells:
"Well you know, people always want to try to make that as one of those things, well how do you, how do you slice this particularly tough sort of ethical question. First of all, from what I understand from doctors, thats really rare. If its a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But lets assume that maybe that didnt work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child."
Huh?? And this guy wants to be a United States' Senator?
Running for Office 101: Show up PREPARED for interviews!
And what was that?
What do you mean by your post?
It's an attack on Freeper Christians, clearly.
TROLL ALERT.
Do you have a point to make or just a personal attack against me?
And what was that?
Just what you said in your original post to me:
If he would have used valid instead of legitimate, and prefaced it with invalid examples being the Tawana Brawley and Duke Lacrosse team false claims of rape he would have still been pilloried by the press, but it would have been easier to combat.
However I don't think most people who heard Akin's comments understood specifically what he meant.
The rest of Akin's comments were probably worse, though. There's NO defending these bizarre statements (in bold) by Akin:
"Well you know, people always want to try to make that as one of those things, well how do you, how do you slice this particularly tough sort of ethical question. First of all, from what I understand from doctors, thats really rare. If its a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But lets assume that maybe that didnt work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child."

Ok thanks.
Yep, he talk too much. And unfortunately his foot in his mouth didn’t muffle the words.
Akin is not competent to represent pro-life conservatives.
What he said was not a “two word tempest in a teapot.”
He actually believed that there was some kind of magic uterus. He has now admitted he was wrong.
He could have endorsed a non-stupid pro-life conservative, Steelman or Brunner. Instead he’s providing a touchstone for the country to associate irrational ignorance with pro-life conservatives.
He is either monumentally stupid and naive, or he is an exceptionally effective democrat plant.
Thank you so much for letting me know you liked that. I worried that the meaning might not be obvious, but it was so much funnier with only one word. Have a good day!
I made my point and SO DID YOU!!
And quit your liberalism w/ ‘attack’. How clueless are you - you post on a conservative public forum and don’t expect a reply - stick w/ DU where you will blend in!
GO SARAH!! Beautiful, Brilliant and the Envy of the unfortunate!!
So, you have no point except for your crush on Palin, and the personal attack against me makes you feel good.
Walk like a duck.../G
All problems are communication problems. When you kiss your husband or children, you are communicating with little chance of misunderstanding. Use words and the chance of mis-communication increases dramatically. One speaks with the intent to convey a thought but the words used, the tone, the context, the body language.. All affect how the thought is received by the listener. And then we tend to hear what we are expected to hear or what we want to hear. So Akin thought one thing, you heard another, then acted on that faulty understanding. The truth will set you free.

“I dont agree. the answer is of course we know that this is not true and we need to focus on the economy and not grandstanding. Naming the game works. Stop runningn like rabbits.”
You know...I’ve been thinking about this all day, and what Akin’s stubbornness might mean.
Now that the emotion has died down, I’ve been thinking that he could have a chance to win, if the folks on our side would get off of his back.
Ma Claire is STILL Obama’s favorite Senator in what should be a red state.
She’s voted the wrong way ever since he became President.
He has the time.
I’ve decide not to write him off just yet.
BTW, he is a good man, I’ve always known that and I hope the folks in Missouri take that into account.
Awwww...shucks. You flatter ME.
You were the one with the wonderful, and astute, reply. I just posed the question.
Pat yourself on the back for me. ;o)
My base instincts also say get rid of the idiot. But, remember, there is a huge difference between what people say and what they do! Akin had an unfortunate choice of words, but what has he done besides say something stupid?
Certainly Akin has started a “feeding frenzy” especially for the evil Democrats. Maybe the Democrats are happy because they fear the truth might be accepted by the moron voters. We are quick to get rid of people who say something dumb, no?
Maybe someday voters will actually vote using common sense and level headed thinking. That has yet to happen in my lifetime.
George Allen lost his Senate seat because he used the word “macacca” ten or more years ago. The people of Virginia had to suffer for six years with an evil Democrat. I use the word “evil” because murder of the innocent unborn is evil.
