Sarah Palin endorsed a third-party candidacy against Rep. Todd Akin, R-Mo., if he persists in his refusal to drop out of the general election campaign after making startling comments about rape and abortion.
Weve got to take back the Senate and Missouri is a must-win state, Palin told Fox News Greta Van Susteren. The way we do that is to have someone like Sarah Steelman be able to run even if its as a third-party candidate to be able to run and help us take this back. Palin endorsed Steelman in the primary, which was regarded as showdown for the privilege of challenging the deeply-unpopular Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.
The former Alaska governor reiterated her support for a third-party run when considering how conservatives should respond if Akin does not drop out before the state prints the ballots for the general election.
Maybe it is a third-party run of Sarah Steelman that I could get behind, she said. Granted, the status quo has got to go [Steelman's campaign motto] would be an odd name for a third party, but well coin it, well adopt it, well run with it if thats what it takes in order to get a common sense, constitutional, happens-to-be-pro-life woman in Missouri to clean up this mess that has been created and at the same time take back the Senate.

If he would have used valid instead of legitimate, and prefaced it with invalid examples being the Tawana Brawley and Duke Lacrosse team false claims of rape he would have still been pilloried by the press, but it would have been easier to combat.
The GOP should run Steelman (the TPX choice) if they are sucessful in getting Akin out of the race.
But of course they won't, she's too "tea party" for them.
One of the things I notice that many are trying to do is push the "fact" that women don't conceive from forcible rape therefore every "raped" woman that conceives was actually willing to have the sex.
Put that on a bumper sticker with 8 words or less and it may work.
Otherwise just put on 'Senator McCaskill'.
Heh...
IMHO, Akin crossed that. And is dragging down the whole GOP with him by giving the Dims and their media allies a huge opening to distract from discussing the real issues.
That said, I agree that a third party run is a loser's game too. Still hopeful for a resignation.
Remember, Tony Perkins and Phyllis Schafly support you. Many
other true Social Conservatives do, too.
Do not become another White Christian Male sacrificed to
The Gods of Political Correctness.
When asked, "How about to save the life of the Mother?" she said, " I support life."
When asked, "What about in the event of incest?", she answered, "I support life."
Finally...
When asked, "But, what about after a rape?" she answered, "I support life."
Well, as you know full well, the Dims have the sycophant MSM media/industrial complex behind them to give them cover. The GOP doesn't. Reality bites.
It's still too soon and I'm too pissed with his selfish decision to give Clod the 'let bygones be bygones Kumbaya hug' just yet.
I too am struggling to find that in here. As Zig Ziglar says, with all this poop, there must be a pony in here somewhere.
Let me know if you find the pony!

But Akin already blew his chance with Sean Hannity ... TWICE!
Telling Hannity that Romney exploited the rape statement controversy for political gain?! Sheer insanity.
I wish I could take a nap till November.
Ethel Water's mother was raped at knife point when she was about 12 years old, an act which got her pregnant with Ethel.
Back in the day if they would have known about Beethoven's disabilities before he was born, the PTB's would have most likely aborted him if they could.
I will do you one better. The country elected Barack Obama.
If you are a true social conservative as you claim, Akin is your man. His record and his life are testimony to his values and principles. He is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America.
We have been told that we must support Romney because of the alternative. Shouldn't that same logic hold true for Akin? Akin is already the nominee, not the presumptive nominee. Isn't it time to stop your negative diatribe against Akin and get on board to support his election? I see no positive support coming from you at this point. Just intolerance and meaness of spirit. No sense of forgiveness or understanding.

Not really, but that's how it being spun. And to ability of the opposition to have a quick comeback for any defense of your candidate weighs heavily on political contests, like it or not.
There's no way the Missouri race will be about Claire McCaskill as long as Akin is running. Not after all this.
In my mind, since he's a sure loser in this MSM-manipulated 'American Idol Elects a Senator' electorate, Akin is NOT my man.
Sure, I can accept his apology. He probably did not realize the insulting and inflammatory nature of his words. I think people defending his original comments irritate me the most. The fact Aiken didn’t understand the uproar says to me he is not qualified for running a high-stakes campaign.
I will NEVER vote for Claire. If there is another good option other than her or Aiken, I will choose it. If not, I may vote for Aiken. I am frustrated that what should have been an easy win just isn’t anymore.
You know what's Reprehensible?! In 2012, with the fate of the Country at stake, this is the issue the media is foisted upon the electorate ......
Ryan grilled on abortion and 'forcible rape'
Thank you Clod Akin. May I have another?
Reprehensible indeed!
