Todd Akin has become a weapon against the pro-life movement and the entire Republican Party. He could damage the entire pro-life cause this election cycle. And it’s his own fault, as Ann Coulter, Debra Saunders, Laura Ingraham, and many others have pointed out.
Missouri conservatives, we need you now. Get this guy to drop out before he buries us all!
And another, and on & on?
Lets republicans try something different this time... instead of running in circles screaming hysterically, why not just shrug off any requests for comment and direct any comments to Akin's office, end of story? Let Missouri deal with him.
Ohhh so you haven't heard.
The conservative Missouri state GOP legislative caucus is backing Akin 100% and telling the wimpy group of flip flopping old Senators and the GOP to grow a spine and stand up to these kinds of attacks from the Democrats or shut up.
Akin sounds like a guy who has spent alot of time living in an Evangelical Christian bubble and has never really seriously thought through his policy positions or dived deeper than a bumper sticker on any intellectual topic—not a healthy way to come across if you claim to be an engineer with a divinity degree. He told Hannity that he got his ideas about the female reproductive system from a “couple articles” he read years ago (amazing considering abortion is his big issue) and he was stunned to hear that the PPP poll he was relying on grossly over-sample Republicans. Somebody that ignorant who gets placed on the national stage is a walking gaffe bomb.
Incidents like this really bring the GOP Christophobes out of the woodwork.
I don’t particularly care for the crusty perspectives on morality better expressed in contemporary vernacular. But this guy is getting crucified through baseless demagoguery.
Akin has let the media to change the discourse of this election from the economy to rape. Unless he withdraw by Sep 25, my tag line applies.
Sorry when the first paragraph is so biased I can’t bring myself to read the rest of the article.
I couldn’t agree more, but it looks like this guy is going to place his own personal Senate ambitions ahead of the interests of his state and country.
If he does get ready to roll over once a week till election time.
This article is right on the money. Akin has damaged all prolifers. He’s a zealot and a moron.
So this election (which I think is already lost thanks to Akin) comes down to supporting a party led by an avowed communist...
...or a party running a candidate in a must have state that thinks a 13 year old who is raped by a career criminal should be mandated by the state to have that career criminal’s baby.
We...are...doomed...
Ohhh Nooo !!!! What will everyone do in face of your tagline.
What other seats are up for grabs???
Why don't you take the money you will save in Missouri and go win those seats???
BTW neither the national GOP nor any of those asking Akin to resign ever lifted one finger to help him in his primary. He owes them nothing.
And another, and on & on?
Exactly. The GOP-E is doing exactly what the Rats want them to do.
This is what I hate about the gutless GOP...Dems commit actual crimes and are lauded. Bill Clinton actually raped women and is the keynote speaker at their convention. Akin used an awkward phrase- his point was true that the baby conceived in a rape is innocent and not deserving of being killed - and the long knives of his OWN party are out in minutes. Pansy-a$$es, all of them. Play hard or go home! Afraid of a down and dirty battle and unable to keep the conversation about the ECONOMY! As soon as there is a viable party that can win elections I’m outa there.
Well, if we fail to replace Reed especially by one seat, he will be remembered in history as the one who save ObamaCare, together with Roberts.
Oh come on. There are other seats besides Missouri. Go concentrate on those. If you fail to replace Reed it will be the fault of those who didn’t win those other seats, not Akin. Quit bellyaching and go win them.
And a good chunk of the GOP will get credit for the assist.
In social situations, business & private, when a fauxpaus is made the best course is to maintain your composure, move on as quickly as possible and, if you must, pitch a fit in private.
The GOP has that exactly backwards and it NEVER ends well.
