Don’t put ir on a painted surface (for long, anyway).. it will scratch the paint, especially if there is any dust :p
I put it on the painted part of my car—with all dust removed first.
I also have magnetic signs on the front doors.
Never had a problem. Just remove all dirt, dust, and grime first.
