SOMERVILLE The Virgina man who made national headlines for alleged possession of assault rifles and other apparent weapons of terrorism after his apprehension in Branchburg back on Jan. 25, 2010, was found guilty by a Somerset County Jury of all charges against him. Arrested by Branchburg Police near a Quick Chek store on Route 22 more than two years ago, Lloyd R. Woodson, 45, of Reston, Va., was convicted today, Tuesday, June 5, of attempted armed robbery, 2nd degree; possession of a firearm for unlawful purpose, 2nd degree; unlawful possession of a rifle, 3rd degree (2 counts); possession of a defaced firearm, 4th degree (2 counts); possession of hollow nose bullets, 4th degree; and possession of large capacity magazines, 4th degree. Not that this guy shouldn’t be in jail for a long time — he tried to knock over a store — but are “assault rifles” a “weapon of terrorism”?

What is a “defaced firearm”? Hollow points and large cap magazines are illegal in Va?

A .223 Bushmaster converted to .50 cal? I’d be scared to pull the trigger on that. Maybe that’s why he didn’t use it when he had the chance. Didn’t know that magazines and hollow-pionts were illegal.
Damn. Even if it works ... that’s gonna kick like a sonofabitch. I thought .50 cal rifles had to have special barrels to absorb and reduce the recoil to human capacity.

This is New Jersey, fairly strict gun laws for the law-abiding citizen. As far as I know hollow points are illegal...
FYI: The accused was pleading insanity, supposedly a paranoid schizophrenic... looks like no one bought it...
