Thats correct, but not in the way you think.

It's no guarantee it is going to play the way you think either.

The article states that it suppresses ovulation and does NOT state that stress doesn’t affect on a short term basis, it just emphasizes chronic.

You are arrogant and pompass towards the people on this board while trying desperately to prove akin wrong. He did not speak well but he’s not wrong, you are.

And who says Akin can't win. He is undefeated in state and federal races and just won the primary. He makes a statement on Sunday and apologizes several times for his verbal gaffe. By Monday the GOP is calling for him to withdraw. This hurts his chances to win more than what he said and apologized for.

And there is no guarantee that another candidate will win. Many of Akin's supporters (217,000 in the primary) may not want to vote for an Establishment appointed candidate. Loyalty begets loyalty. If you nullify their votes, people may not respond favorably.

Exactly!

He has made his decision, the GOP should support him and move on.

And now to you, if they were impregnated, they were mostly bartering or collaborators? Amazing.
Not quite what I said. Some of those babies born may very well have been from women willing to trade food or necessities for sex.

A lot of German women were having Russian babies. Guess they must not have read your study before they were raped.
You made the association that all of the births from that time period were from rape.
I simply offered a suggestion that perhaps not all of the children born were the product of rape.

Say,,, by any chance are you running for office?
Nah, I'm just trying to wade my way through deceptive liberal double speak and word twisting antics.

I don’t live in Missouri, but since its a US Senate election that has ramifications nationally I’m not going to cease giving my opinion of why this egotistical narcissistic sonofabitch should take a hike, or be removed from the ballot and replaced.

By any means necessary.

ie.....work on your reading comprehension bub, and stop trying to debate subjects that you have no knowledge of. I can respect someone who simply says “I don’t know”, its hard to respect someone who doesn’t know but acts like they do.

The fact is that other threads have medical evidence that suggests just that, that the stress of violence helps prevent conception.

Now, he should have said 'violent' rape, but used the wrong word.

The hysteria by the GOP is amazing.

Look, I'm sure we'd agree on a lot of things, but that's just wishful thinking.

Look, it is certianly not as self defeating as the guys in the circular firing squad.

Akin threw McCaskill a lifeline - she was a Dead Woman Walking until he opened his mouth. If he gets out now and she has to run against a non-toxic GOP candidate, we still have a chance to see her lose, and I want to see her lose!

And if he stays in as it looks like, the toxic firing squad is doing McCaskill's bidding. It's still up to Akin as he won the Primary to get out or not. Spitting on Akin after he decided to stay in is not working to get what you want by seeing McCaskill lose.

If Missouri votes against him because of one poorly worded statement, they deserve the chains of Obamacare.

“Why will she “slaughter” him? “

I live in a state not unlike Missouri ... Pennsylvania. Our states are eerily similar in terms of voting records. During most non-Presidential elections, we tend to vote a bit more Conservative. During Presidential years, we tilt liberal (2008 was an exception like most of the nation). Missouri has St. Louis and Kansas City fraud to deal with ... we have Filthadelphia and the Cesspool of Pittsburgh.

I saw Rick Santorum get SLAUGHTERED in 2006 for making similar gaffes that the press blew out of proportion. Only minor difference is that Santorum ran against the (downright worthless) son of a popular former Governor. In the case of Akin, he’s running against an incumbent loaded with cash. Kind of similar if you ask me.

If I am wrong, I will shout it from the rooftops with pride that I was overreacting and acting like a moron. I’ve been wrong plenty of times in my life and I pray I am wrong this time.

Sadly, I am very confident that I am right ... Akin is going to get destroyed by McCaskill ... and seeing that this is a Presidential election with an unaccomplished, liberal incumbent at the helm worshiped by an adoring press, I can assure you that the said press will work in overdrive, much like they did in 2006 and 2008, to insure Akin’s downright STUPID comments will be front and center of the mushy moderate’s minds this November. This is the issue the left’s been waiting to use.

Wrong, FRiends

He’s running for a US SENATE SEAT.

This election has significant national impact and ramifications, so we ALL have a say in it.

Fine, if you Missourians wanna support this ignoramus and cost us the chance to take the senate then YOU’RE showing just how deluded and naive you are about how the REAL WORLD operates. And I’d be willing to wager you’ll earn plenty of enmity here if that happens.

No, it means he’s a NICE moron.

Do you really believe he is a moron? Do you know what was actually contained in his apology?

"What I said was ill-conceived, and it was wrong," Akin said on former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's radio show Monday. "I really just want to apologize to those that I've hurt."

Akin's apology came as President Obama suggested the Republican's remarks illustrated the broad differences between Democrats and Republicans on issues like health care and reproductive rights.

"Rape is rape," Mr. Obama told reporters at the daily White House briefing Monday. "And the idea that we should be parsing and qualifying and slicing what types of rape we're talking about doesn't make sense to the American people and certainly doesn't make sense to me."

Mr. Obama added that Akin's remarks underscore "why we shouldn't have a bunch of politicians, a majority of whom are men, making health care decisions on behalf of women."

The president acknowledged that his GOP rival Mitt Romney and other Republicans have distanced themselves from Akin's statements. However, he said, "The underlying notion that we should be making decisions on behalf of women for their health care decisions, or qualifying 'forcible rape' versus 'non-forcible rape' -- those are broader issues....between me and the other party."

The controversy started after Akin, a six-term Missouri conservative now running against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, was asked in a local interview on Sunday whether he would support abortions for women who have been raped.

"It seems to me first of all, from what I understand from doctors, that's really rare," Akin said in the interview. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down," Akin said of a rape victim's chances of becoming pregnant.

Romney called the remarks "inexcusable," while some Republican senators like Scott Brown of Massachusetts and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin called for him to drop out of the Senate race.

Some liberals tried to tie other Republicans to Akin's comments, noting that Romney's running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, co-sponsored an abortion-related bill with Akin that would have limited federal funding for abortions to victims of forcible rape," rather than just rape. The FBI's definition of rape is known as "forcible rape," and it is used to distinguish between statutory rape and other kinds of rape.

Huckabee asked Akin whether he was talking about "forcible rape" when he used the term "legitimate rape."

"I was talking about forcible rape, and it was absolutely the wrong word," Akin said.

Akin said he understands that women can become pregnant from rape. "I didn't mean to imply that wasn't the case," he said. "That does happen."

While Akin acknowledged he made a "very, very serious error," he added that he's not dropping out of the Senate race.

"I don't know that I'm the only person in public office who suffered from foot-in-mouth disease," he said. "I feel just as strongly as ever that my background and ability will be a big asset in replacing Claire McCaskill... Just because someone makes a mistake doesn't make them useless."

And right now, Akin has the best chance of making sure that she doesn't get reelected.

Do you have any stats on that?

Other posters have showed that the stress of violence does prevent many pregnancies.

Now, the problem with his statement isn't over the accuracy of it, but the use of 'legitimate' with the word 'rape'.

“He has made his decision, the GOP should support him and move on.”

The Conservative Republicans in Missouri voted for him in their Primary and Republicans should not only support Todd Akin, but should have his speak at the GOP Convention on the Brutality of the MSM and their Attack Machine.

Once again, stop trying to push material that you yourself can’t understand, you obviously don’t comprehend what the article states otherwise you would understand that it is irrelevant to this conversation.

They haven't won anything yet.

The GOP needs to shut up and support the candidate who won the primary.
