Rep. Todd Akin, the embattled Senate candidate who used the phrase legitimate rape in talking about abortion and pregnancy, said Tuesday afternoon that he would stick to his decision to remain in the race.

This fool may just cost us an easy pickup and could possibly hurt us in other races too.
Oh God....a minister.
Where I came from back in the families usually sent the idiot son ass of the family into the church.
Guess the Akin family did the same.
Muslims blow themselves up all the time in the name of their religious beliefs...why shouldn’t republicans....
It surly must be an effective tactic...right?
Thats....really interesting...and totally irrelevant to what the adults are discussing, please try and work on your reading comprehension.
Oh, I have no problems with reading comprehension.
And, yes, I'm sure you do consider it irrelevant now.
And if adults weren't discussing biological factors why were you so vociferous in your denials in your previous replies?
Where has the "discussion" moved to now?
He can't win anyway? He'll get no money from here on out? He should still drop out?
Charlie who?? Yeah that ends it all since Charlie Tuna said so.
I'm no defeatist, I just want to win! I want to see Romney in the White House and Harry Reid giving the gavel to Mitch McConnell. Akin's idiotic comments are making both much less likely, and I don't want the selfish decision of a clueless polition in Missouri to srew that up.
Do you even understand what this is telling you? I love it when people post articles beyond their own comprehension. Nobody has denied that stress can inhibit many things, however, we’re talking about long-term suppression of hormonal activity vs a short term momentary event.
If a woman is raped, the event is sudden and instant, if she’s a fertile time in her cycle, meaning she’s ALREADY OVULATING(whereas the article states that stress can prevent it, but not if its already going on), she will very likely get pregnant if the rapist ejaculates inside her.
From your article.
“In humans, CHRONIC stress can lead to a drop in sex drive as well as a drop in fertility.”
Unless a woman is getting raped on a daily basis, the point you were trying to make is meaningless, you should really read your own source material before going for a “gotcha.”
Don't think so. He is radioactive and it plays right into the War on Women fakery of the Dems. The GOP will have nothing to do with him and I suspect he might even be disinvited from the Convention.
Thanks for posting this link. This is just basic common sense, not pie in the sky science.
At least Shoeless Joe could hit.
Yeah, the R circular firing squad works too.
He makes me sick to my stomach. His ego is going to cause us to lose the House, the Senate and probably Missouri in the presidential election which means losing the White House as well. No sane person would vote for this man.
He’s not only stupid, he hates America too
"Scientists know that stress boosts levels of stress hormones - glucocorticoids such as cortisol - that inhibit the body's main sex hormone, gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), and subsequently suppresses sperm count, ovulation and sexual activity."
No help there for a woman who has already ovulated.
"In humans, chronic stress can lead to a drop in sex drive as well as a drop in fertility. [...] Kirby showed that acutely stressed rats showed increased RFRP levels for several hours, but that levels returned to normal by the next day. Chronically stressed rats, however, were left with longer-term elevations of RFRP levels in the dorsomedial hypothalamus area of the brain, and suppression of activity in the reproductive axis - the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal hormone cascade"
The stress due to rape is not chronic stress.
70+ hours of coursework on the writings of Paul, the authorship of revelations, etc,, do not equate in any way to a hard education relating to the temporal world.
IE,,not many masters of divintity get hired by BP and the Hadron supercollider project. Just saying. So in a sense, he is a highly trained minister. He is certainly devoid of the trait known as “common sense”.
How does that “Republican Party Of Yours”(TM) regard the “elected primary winner” being a featherbrained imbecile?
Because, NOBODY was ever discussing whether or not a pregnant woman being raped would lead to a miscarriage.
What Akin stated, and what the “adults” have been discussing is the topic of rape leading to pregnancy in the first place, not whether or not raping an ALREADY pregnant woman will cause problems for her.
Good God you are just as dumb as Akin.
She doesn't have to take advantage of Akin's mispeak and do the dirty work, FR posters are doing it for her.
Hey, you do get it!
Then again, I posted just a tad too quickly.
I see.......so what youre basically arguing is that an ALREADY pregnant woman being raped could be more likely to result in a miscarriage?
If a woman was pregnant and got raped then yeah, I'd say she had a good chance of a miscarriage. I never mentioned anything about a woman being raped while pregnant.
Just had to correct that so you know my reading comprehension isn't off after all.
The time has passed for an independent candidate to file and get on the ballot. Write-ins have to file a declaration of intent. It looks like the 26th of October is the deadline for this.
He's right about this one. McCaskill spent heavily to help Akin win the primary, knowing he would meltdown; true to form, he delivered, just much earlier than anticipated.
I don't oppose Akin for his beliefs, just for his astonishing stupidity. Any politican dumb enough to utter what he said in public needs to find another line of work.
