That free will thing - if a person has a sincere desire to know the truth, they will find it. If a person wants to cling to beliefs no matter how erroneous, they get to cling blindly.

I am sure that some people who happen upon this thread read will see the difference between truth and lying propaganda.

The lie was given it's first airing when Ayers wrote that she went to see the film Black Orpheus when she was in Chicago and I was only sixteen then, working as an au pair when that film wasn't released until December 1959, after Stanley Ann Dunham was already 17. When the film was shown, where she was and how old she really was when she was in Chicago wasn't the point of that paragraph, what was important was to set the stage for Ayres to be able to allow zero to attend the same film with his mother many years later, and make the observation (which took place in the mind of the author of course)that his mother had an early, teenage fascination for black men.

Black Orpheus was nothing but an instrument. As one of her classmates said, (Joel Hannum, paraphrased) in 1960, on Mercr Island, if one saw a black person approaching, one crossed the street. So Ayres and zero needed something, anything, to make it seem SAD had an unusual appetite right from the age of 16.
