"Perhaps the GOP will take notice if a conservative party receives a few million votes more than they did last year."

Oh my God, get off the pipe...the Constitution Party can't even keep pace with the natural expansion of the electorate...

2000 - President Howard Phillips and Dr. J. Curtis Frazier 98,020 popular (0.09%), 0 electoral - 6th
2004 - President Michael Peroutka and Chuck Baldwin 144,421 popular (0.12%), 0 electoral - 5th
2008 - President Chuck Baldwin and Darrell Castle 199,314 popular (0.15%), 0 electoral 5th

I would say that is because the electorate THOUGHT that they were welcome in the GOP. Since then, we have had RINO / Conservative (McCain / Palin) and now we have RINO / Conservative (Romney / Ryan). Same Song, Same Dance, the only thing that is different is the date.

Since then, many conservatives have realized that the GOP does not want them in the party. Since the GOP no longer wants us, and says they dont need us ... time to part company.
