Yeah Mr. Robinson! I’m getting tingles and tearing up. Another 4 years of him unrestrained and we won’t make it. Our beloved country is too important. So glad right now!
Romney can be dragged to the right IMO. Obama will only go further LEFT. That’s the only direction he knows!
How, pray tell, can conservatism grow when conservatives support liberals?
***It cannot. Like a tree having its roots in salt water, it never really grows until it puts its roots into fresh water conservatism.
Conservatism dies when its adherents abandon conservative principles.
***Conservatism has been under siege lately and suffers from the possibility of dying from a thousand cuts. Today’s cut was one of those.
Ah. The politics of personality. Just what we don’t need.
***That is all the CINOs have to offer.
No. Because those who surrender principle now can’t be trusted with the long term.
***It’s showing itself even in the short term. Even on this thread, this very poster you’re responding to has attempted to start redefining conservatism. Surrendering those principles is considered a good thing in their eyes. Each post should have its own vomit alert.
DrO thinks his Catholic VP Paul Ryan is our miracle.
***Maybe the best thing that could be said about a president rumnutz is that he would be one breath away from handing over the presidency to a conservative.
EV: Yeah, right. Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue. You do know Oz is fictional, right?
sf: So if you want to hold on to your prejudices in the short term, do keep them to yourself while the rest of us work long term.
EV: No. Because those who surrender principle now can't be trusted with the long term.
EV, that's a 'no can do' attitude. You can't elect conservatives without LOTS OF PEOPLE electing them. And you're not going to elect LOTS OF CONSERVATIVES elected by alienating at least half the nation who aren't conservatives by acting sanctimonious. You have to gain people's respect and attention by acting respectful toward their thoughts and ideas, giving THEM attention. You have to act like you at least CARE about their future, too. Beating people over the head and telling them how much better your ideas are, or insinuating or saying how stupid and wrong their own are will get you no "fish." Jesus taught his disciples how to be fisher's of men, it wasn't with the nasty approach, I can tell you that much. We need to be fisher's of men, too. Christ is THE role model of how to do that.
I posted a bit above one way of winning liberals/fence sitters away from liberal ideologies to Constitutional ideologies is by focusing "this election, the next, and the ones forever after: electing Constitutional Conservatives to local office, and state and federal elections. Each of us has to be in earnest prayer that God will bring us into meaningful and respectful dialogue with our co-workers, acquaintances, family, friends, church members, teachers, for frank discussions first, about those things we can all agree as goals for our children and their futures, and approaches of how to get there. Meeting in a middle area, they will be more prone to listen to ideas different from their own. Maybe not that day, or the next time you speak, but maybe by the next election, something will sink in and they'll see a meaningful difference as to why the liberal way is inferior to the Constitutional way."
True :)
They’re not going to follow you once they figure out you don’t have any principles left.
People are sick of empty talk and political games.
I publicly forgave him and the others who tried to paint my faith in a corner.
***Nic accuses me of lying. There’s no lie connected with preaching the gospel to you. There is also nothing to forgive, for preaching is behavior commanded by my Savior Jesus, Who is God and Whom you reject.
With Ryan on the ticket, I have a feeling Romney is going to do a lot better than manby of us dared hope...at least I pray it is so.
These two articles sum it up:
Barack Obama and the Class Envy Train Wreck
Also...note the details of how Obama helped get us into this mess to begin with. He, Pelosi, Dodd, et all engineered the financial collapse specifically for the 2008 election.
Obama tied directly to the financial crisis of 2008
Finally, please everyone...go see 2012: Obama's America. We saw it here in Boise, ID on Saturday at 5 PM. Theater was full. Loud applause at the end. Everyone was basically saying, "Finally! The truth about this Marxist bastage." Then urge everyyone you know to see it.
Zactly. Although, I didn't ask, I think that very thought may have crossed DrO's mind. God works in mysterious ways.
So, Christ didn’t have principles?
He was rude? Obnoxious? Uncaring? Disinterested in other people’s lives and stories?
Are these qualities that difficulty for you to feel for your fellow man?
So, Christ didnt have principles? He was rude? Obnoxious? Uncaring?
***You and others made a big deal on the previous thread that FReepers who were confronting the false teaching of mormonism were bigots or haters or not namby-pamby nice. I posted dozens of times that Jesus opposed the false teachers in His day, calling them ‘sons of the devil’. Was He rude? Was He Obnoxious? Was He uncaring? No one answered the question. But you & others continue to pile on requirements of namby-pamby-nicehood in the face of false teachers for us freepers, requirements that Jesus Himself refused to shoulder.
There are only a few of us conservatives left who wont fall in with the GOPe. As a result, we will never have another conservative president from the Republican Party.
There are dozens of people you meet each year. You only need to make meaningful connections with even 10 per year to make a huge difference in their lives, and for this country.
You sow a seed; the next conservative, if he is also trying to be a ‘fisher of men’, plants another, and it goes on.
You know the story.
If you don’t FEEL like you care, do it anyway. C. S. Lewis wrote that if you do even what you don’t feel like doing, it changes you, it changes you for the better. And God doesn’t have us ‘do things’ based upon whether we ‘feel like’ being nice today. We are supposed to because we are commanded to “...Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself.” Yeah, it’s hard, and no, we can’t always follow through. But, we’re supposed to try. If the Church (that is, all the Christians) were actually all trying to do that, it wouldn’t be the lukewarm Church it is today.
The presidency ages a man, especially one who actually takes the job seriously, rather than golfing, going on dream vacations, fundraising and playing city ball. I don't like Senator McCain, but I rather expect he would've worked hard in office, which means he might very well have been killed by the daily grind and stress of it, as he isn't exactly a spring chicken or in good health. Viola! President Sarah Palin! That conservative enough for you?
I see you’re posting to someone else after you’ve been challenged to back up your accusation that I’m a liar. Okay, I get it. You need to back away from such an accusation, because you can’t do it. And you don’t want to apologize because your pride is in the way, so you slunk off. You also start buzzing around some other freeper, in particular the one who happens to be running for President himself.
God bless you and the good DrO.
