The most perilous moment in the early life of the 3rd Reich came when Hitler ordered the reoccupation of the Rhineland in contravention of the Treaty of Versailles. It was March 1936 and the French Army was the largest and most powerful in Europe. The leadership of the still rearming and expanding Wermacht knew it was still too weak to resist the French if they reacted militarily. But neither the French nor the other WW1 allies reacted militarily and the Nazis knew that they faced what were, for a time, toothless tigers. The West had become flaccid in its love of peace and would soon learn the price of coddling even a weak dictator.

I don’t generally like historical parallels, but it does seem that Israel faces a similar situation with Egypt. Unfortunately, the UN is moribund, Iran is developing a nuclear weapon, and the United States, under the leadership of President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton, is no lover of Israel’s security or freedom.

The question for Israel is this: Can it afford the wait needed to work the problem in the Security Council or should it act now knowing that military action in the Sinai would probably provide Morsi with the excuse needed to abrogate the peace treaty. If it is war, can or should Israel limit itself to just the Sinai or even just Egypt in the scope of its military operations??

This is a probing act, a test, just like Hitler. The Egyptian economy is dead and apparently Morsi wants dead Egyptians all over again, circa 1967 and 1973.
The Egyptians have been accumulating the know-how and hardware from the US since 1978 JUST FOR THIS FINAL END. First strategic parity with Israel (which they still, do not have) then launch a war against a smaller Israel again.
It just goes to prove that any agreement signed with Arabs is not worth the paper it is signed on. The more equipment they bring into Sinai, the easier it is to detect then destroy. If things get really bad, Israel can always take out the Aswan High Dam...

no lover?
indeed. Obama, Clinton, and the DNC have
enabled and encouraged crucifixions of Christians in Egypt,
and plan the extermination of Israel.

seems the peace treaty is a dead letter already...

Isreal simply needs to highlight the document and declare to egypt to 'move em or lose em' and act accordingly...

Watched about an hour of the new movie Conquest 1453 last night. About the conquest of Constantinople. Done by a Turkish company so the movie is slanted towards Islam. The movie however was very well done. Hope to watch the rest soon. It is 2 1/2 hours. Very similar situation to today. They have been trying to remove Israel for years, just like they tried over and over again to conquer Constantinople. Eventually they succeeded and what helped them bring that about, is very interesting and somewhat similar to current times regarding Israel. The more things change, the more Muslims refuse to change.

Israel probably doesn’t want to open two fronts at once: Iran and Egypt. But may not have a choice.
