It is pretty much certain that there will be no run of great news the MSM can spin into Obama being the protector of the US Economy. That leaves them with “Bush left us such a mess we need 4 more years to fix it”...which doesn’t work as well 4 years later.

To me the key is that it won’t motivate THEIR supporters to go out and vote.

I think we are in for a complete turnout flipflop where Obama loses all the states he gained and then loses Wisconsin and maybe Iowa or New Hampshire much the same way McCain lost VA and NC.

This line of excuse making is very childish, and I think that Americans have lost respect because of it. If I hired you to turn around my company (after you had insisted that you, and only you had all the answers), and four years later you were still blaming the previous CEO for problems that are apparantly beyond your ability to fix, I would send you packing.

Look, no president comes in with a blank slate. Every one of them comes into office with problems that are years, and sometimes decades in the making. Very few presidents have fallen back on the "it's the previous guy's fault" excuse that Obama contiually uses. Its belies a lack of leadership ability and is extremely un-Presidential. Know this, if he gets re-elected, you can count on four more years of responibility-ducking. It's in the boy-President's make up.

In what I think was a very smart move, yesterday Ryan said, yes, Obama did inherit a faltering economy BUT he’s had time to fix it and whining won’t do. Well, maybe that’s not exactly what he SAID but it was the message.
