You aroused my curiosity, so I had to check to see how slow Free Republic is for me. From ground zero, it took five seconds to get to Free Republic's home page. Clicked on a specific forum and got there in seven seconds. Clicked on a specific thread in that forum and got there in two seconds.

I'm running Windows XP and IE8 on a pathetically antiquated computer, but I don't seem to be held up by any inordinate amount. (Other peoples' mileage may vary.)

That’s the problem with this ,it’s a matter of perception and expectation over the kit you are using.
Will be nice to see the effect of nice new servers ,however! :)
Seriously use IE9,it is actually good.
