Well, folks, it happens every four years or so. The presidential election cycle really brings out the RINOS. I have to state and restate FR's positions more and more frequently, because the true blue RINO types simply cannot stand that a conservative site will not support a gun grabbing, abortionist, homosexualist, big government statist.
Last cycle it was Rudy McRomney. Boy, did we ever catch hell for not supporting the big RINOs of the day. Hundreds of true blue RINO supporters fled grassroots conservative FR in disgust when they couldn't get their way and called us every name in the book on the way out, especially, the Rudy cabal.
Where did it get them? The abortionist/homosexualist Rudy didn't get the nomination. We on FR finally decided to support McCain after he was the last RINO standing and he selected Palin as his running mate, but that will not happen this time. And McCain proved not up to the task anyway. He was far too undependable to make it as a conservative, but he was at least pro-life and pro-family and a war hero and that's why I finally relented and gave my reluctant no other choice endorsement.
But Myth Romney is without a doubt the most leftist, flip-flopping, lying, two-faced politician ever to be nominated by the Republicans. We have the most leftist Democrat ever sitting in the White House which ANY Republican should be able to defeat in a Reaganesque landslide, but in their infinite RINO wisdom, the GOPe pushes the most leftist Republican ever.
Why, oh, why would the GOPe risk it all by pushing for and giving the nomination to a man with Romney's abortionist, homosexualist, gun grabbing, big government statist Keynesian record? Do they have a death wish or are they simply trying to move the goal posts even further to the left? Romney is the grandpappy of ObamaCare for crying out loud. He made ObamaCare possible. ObamaCare gave birth to the grassroots tea party movement. The GOPe has done nothing but torpedo the tea party conservatives when they should have embraced us. Sarah Palin was the best thing to happen for the Republicans party since Reagan and the tea party the best thing in a century. Why would they try to kill us off?
We can take a clue from the Rudy McRomney cabal that left FR last time. They exclaimed on the way out that, "The conservatives have held their boot to the GOP's neck for far too long. Never again will guns, abortion, and the gay agenda be important issues for Republicans."
And now the abortionist/homosexualist/shamnesty Rudy McRomney cabal and the anti Palin RINO crowd have teamed up to come after FR again. They couldn't hack it with their wideawakes wankers for Rudy site or their trueblue RINOs for Romney site, so they are now posting their current anti-FR screeds on facebook and on any blog site they possibly can.
Hell hath no fury like a RINO scorned.
One of the RINO's we're talking about is our old friend Luis Gonzalez. He was a big Rudy pusher and would relentlessly trash any conservative who objected. We eventually had to invite him to leave FR and go with the wankers for Rudy. But it turns out he had a sleeper account on FR called "Lancelot Jones."
He recently registered a mole account on FR called "The Duke of Pearls" where he attempted to post the anti-FR screed pasted below. I pulled it and banned his account(s), but it is the one he's now plastering all over the net aided and abetted by his pal and anti-Palin RINO troll, EveningStar.
By the way, it's telling that Gonzalez in his Lancelot Jones mole persona posted the following quips to FR just a couple of days ago:
"If you can't rely on something at the precise moment that you need it the most, because that thing that you need to rely on is only reliable when the circumstances suit it, then get rid of it."
"If the GOP realizes that "purists" will only supprt the GOP when the Party's candidates meet their test, then it may be best to not count on them at all."
"The lesson that the GOP will probably learn from your scenario, is that it needs to jettison purists once and for all."
So, I guess my pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-small government, pro-gun, pro-liberty constitutional stance makes me a "purist" who must be hated and persecuted and run off the net even though my positions on these causes are exactly the same as the official Republican party platform. Very strange.
Here's Gonzalez' latest anti-FR screed that he's trying to make go viral:
Once, a long time ago, if you were an individual seeking reasonable and intelligent political discourse in the Internet, from a right-wing perspective, there were few places as prominent and respected as Jim Robinsons freerepublic.com. The site counted among its members such luminaries as Tony Snow, Barbara Olsen, and Andrew Breitbar; even Robert Bork was rumored to post in FR.
The sites users, known as FReepers, were considerable in number, dedicated, and passionate, and Jim Robinsons conservative brigades were able to launch either spontaneous roadside rallies, or organized nation-wide protests from Texas, to Florida, to Georgia, to Washington DC itself.
- It was a FReeper that ended Dan Rathers career.
- It was a FReeper that coined the term Sore/Loserman during the Bush/Gore recount wars.
- It was a FReeper that posted the first known report of trouble with the Columbia, as it disintegrated over Texas and Louisiana on re-entry.
- It was a FReeper that photo-shopped the infamous image of John Kerry standing side-by-side with Jane Fonda in an anti Vietnam war rally.
Those were the Golden Days of Free Republic, but the site shines no longer. Mr. Robinson fails to realize that it was individual members of his forum that brought gravitas to the forum, and not the other way around. To be fair, Robinson created what could very well be the best softweare of its kind, but it was the massive interchange of ideas between members, all driven by the e-wave of the late 20th Century, and the animosity toward the Clinton administration that brought the forum into the spotlight.
Alas, Mr. Robinson convinced himself that the message was the medium, when it was the messengers that raised the medium to glory.
Internet blogs are buzzing with reports of a massive crack up in FR, with anti-Romney sentiment standing toe-to-toe with open anti-Mormon bias, FReepers are abandoning Jim Robinsons burning ship in droves, populating sites like www.gopbriefingroom.com to discuss the chaotic status of Free Republic.
In facebook, exiled FReepers stand amazed at the realization that Free Republic and Daily KOS, bitter Internet blog political ideology enemies, are actually supporting the same candidate for the Presidency this cycle, as FReepers openly support the idea if an Obama win, as such a victory will teach the GOP a lesson.
This post from FReeper Leep
"Crash and burn America. Hopefully, we can rebuild in 10 or 20 or 50 years ?" The signs are visible to even the naked eye.
Check this statement by the sites founder, Jim Robinson, just a few nights ago:
Lastly, were having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon bigot on FR. In todays Free Republic, no one will be critical of anti-Mormon statements. Jim Robinson once again:
This website considers the Mormon religion as false doctrine. Period. Its nearly impossible to cross the line on criticism of Mitt Romneys Mormonism at a site where the proprietor dismisses the entire religion as a false doctrine.
Robinson, in his refusal to support the GOP ticket seems to understand that he has become a minority within a minority, within a diminishing number of supporters, as he says:
"I doubt there are 10% of the FReepers in agreement with me on this." Ten percent of a rapidly diminishing number of posting members could spell financial troubles for Robinson, as some of the sites most steadfast financial supporters quietly melt into the night.
Then again, even as Free Republic fades into irrelevance, Robinsons legacy lives on in an unintended cottage industry of forums offering refuge to FReepers wishing to distance themselves from Robinson.
As one of the members of The Briefing Room quipped recently:
"The FR meltdown is good for business, people are looking for a sanctuary, and a place where sanity still reigns. Our membership rolls are increasing hourly, and they all come to ask the same question what in the world happened to Free Republic?
Sad thing, that what was once such a great notion will crumble and fall under the weight of such a negative and destructive actions, and that in the end, the great things accomplished by the many, will be dragged down into the mud by the few.
I know, I know, it just gets under my skin, like a chigger.
What about the crap of calling US immoral and not conservative?
This is true although I suspect even Bush wouldn’t have guessed that John Roberts would vote that way on Obamacare. I can see both sides on whether or not the court should have overturned Obamacare from the conservative point-of-view. But what I really focus on is the fact that single-payer “Medicare for all” would be constitutional. So I think even if the court had sided with us, a government takeover of health care is still a battle that will continue and that we have to win in the hearts and minds of the public.
At this point, if the Romney/Ryan plan truly touts concrete free market reforms in health care, then we have the danger of a loss in this election being interpreted as an endorsement of Obamacare and a rebuke of private sector health care. It’s worth analyzing all the potential consequences of this election up to the time we go into the polling booth.
I supported Newt in the primary and would never shy away from having a true, red-meat conservative on the top of the ticket. Strangely, we have in recent history only been handed them in the V.P. slot instead, from Kemp to Cheney to Palin to Ryan. I am still trying to figure out Romney to an extent. If he genuinely flip flops to the conservative side and stays there then I’m not going to really care what he did in the past.
At this point I feel it’s a chance I have to take. Even if we gridlock Obama and build up majorities in Congress, there will still be little chance of repealing Obamacare in 4 years once people start receiving freebies. Not to mention the backdoor amnesty that Obama has planned, something else that would be irreversible and could even ensure that Democrats never lose a presidential election again.
The only peaceful solution. There will be no converts from either side of the Debate as far as I can tell.
Everything that needed to be said has been said so most of these Romney Threads are a just a waste of Bandwidth and Keystrokes.
When you come to the fork in the road, take it.
Oh for Heaven’s Sake. If they all hate FR so much why do they keep whining on and on and on about us?
Just take your football and go home, you bleeding idiots. If FR is going down, why do you care since you hate us so much?
Y’all have a real circle jerk going on there. You’re falling in love with each others repetitious rants about FR and believing your own lies.
Get a life.
And BTW, did I mention that we have 51 New Monthly Donors and 85% of the FReepathon goal already? Did I mention that the FReepathons are starting to go faster again? Well, I just did, losers.
Don't you love the people who pompously start by firing up the straw man "Well, those of us who are not going to stay home"? [COBOL2Java, post #100]
Pompous indeed. Straw man? Yup.
Elitist. Assumptionist.
Allow me to state the obvious:
(a) There's more races on a November ballot -- along with key issues -- than POTUS
(b) There'll be likely more "Virgil Goode" and "Tom Hoefling" votes (true conservative votes) than "stay home" conservative voters...
And if some of you are going to don your "third party can't win" pulpit mantras, let's see your level of consistency on that one. Where have you been in telling conservatives in about 15 states that NO conservative or RINO can win in those states? (Left Coast; New England; IL; D.C. area aside from Virginia) Somehow that doesn't stop Romney from getting votes in those states, and we don't see you preaching that crap @ Romney blue-state voters...Why not?
Romneyites: JimRob is in CA...how oft' have you preached to him that Romney can't win in that state, so why vote for somebody who can't collect electoral votes?
What's "funny" about that mantra is -- taken to its extreme -- if you are ONLY to vote for the guy who can take a given state -- well, that means conservatives would HAVE to vote for Obama in the blue states...and some maintain with a LOT of evidence that it wouldn't be much worse than his "twin," the Mythster.
Blue-staters inside and outside FR: Vote third party (Goode/Hoefling) Romney can't win those states, anyway.
Red-staters within FR: Vote third-party (Goode/Hoefling) Obama can't win those states, anyway.
Purple-staters within FR: Keep monitoring the polls up thru late October. If it shifts more strongly to Romney, he won't need your vote; If it shifts more strongly to Obama, one more vote down the toilet won't help Romney. If it's neck and neck up to the end, pray for direction...It's to Him you will ultimately have to be accountable unto...and don't be afraid to stick to your principle to never vote for a "pro-abort" if you have that...
Remember... one day somebody will pressure you into voting for either a type like THE Anti-Christ...who could be running vs. a reincarnated Hitler...Believe me, the "anti-opposing candidate" reasons to vote vs. one or the other of those guys would be hefty...
But the "anti" vote goes both ways...we don't support people who oppose the ban on the Boy Scouts...who become socialist healthcare pioneers...and who support the "offing" of offspring just because they adhere to the euphemism of "choice"...and this year we have one candidate doing that in sheep's clothing...based upon all the pro-abort things Romney did/said in 2005-2007 after his alleged "pro-life" altarcall in late 2004.
Besides, ya'll make the best whiskey on the planet.

We certainly can't guarantee we'll win every battle. But even with Reagan, we didn't win every battle, not on Sandra Day O'Connor or the 1986 amnesty. But we do know that public opposition can sink the plans of a president, just as liberal opposition sunk Bush's Social Security reform. So we can work through our representatives to make sure that they don't support legislation that's too liberal. Plus Romney will have to worry about reeelection and funding that campaign. There could even be the threat of a primary challenge.
The other point is that to make gains for our movement, we need to go far beyond just electing specific individuals to office. The Tea Party really needs to grow into a movement that will engage the public and build support for specific ideas, plans, legislation, constitutional amendments, etc. Let's say, for school voucher programs or the federal marriage amendment. Some of the big changes that we need done will never happen based solely on the whim of a candidate or a party. We need to do more things to move the bar of public opinion to our side on specific issues so that candidates will have no choice but to do what we want or get voted out. I do know that Obama in his second term would not let any such threats stand in his way.
I spoke out about the long-term danger of damaging the Republican brand even if Romney wins during the primary. There are many risks that come with a Romney presidency. I just can't help but look over to the greater of two evils, at someone who will enshrine Obamacare in the American way of life and someone who through backdoor amnesty will try to create a permanent majority voting bloc for his party. I'd rather take my chances with Romney.
Nevertheless it's valuable to have people in the conservative grass roots opposing Romney to remind him of the pressure that comes from that side. It's a big tent and from Romney's perspective those are the "bad cops" that remind him how bad it could get if he does anything to shift more conservatives away from him.
It will be anything but interesting.
It will be along the lines of the Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times".
Newt had conceded by the time the delayed Texas primary was held.
If this first week is any indicator, Obama and his MSM support team are far more afraid of Ryan than Romney and seem to be campaigning against the VP of our ticket as if he was the top of the ticket.
“Wrong again. Im making a moral stand, regardless of your less-than conservative opinion.”
No you are compromising and being pragmatic. There is NOTHING moral about voting for Romney...because he is NOT moral. It is the epitome of foolishness to think you can fight wrong/evil by wrong/evil means.
I’m not going to get a a stupid contest with you about who is more conservative. It boils down to what one considers conservative. Also, this also boils down to what one considers moral.
Many of the ABO folks here have the good sense to say, “I know Romney is bad and doesn’t deserve to be POTUS.” “However, I am voting for Romeny because I don’t want Obama to continue to be POTUS.” “I’m being pragmatic.” That is honest pragmatism. I disagree with it, but can at least respect the person for being honest about what they are doing. I don’t sense that in you. You are the kind that would pick Heinrich Himler (head of the SS) to replace Adolph Hitler, because he “isn’t as bad as Hitler.” You just aren’t capable of grasping this, or just really good at lying to yourself. You are not a “bad” person in my eyes, just a deceived one. You are wanting immediate gratification by removing Obama from office, which you think will make your life better and the nation safer....all this will do is give you the “instant gratification”, but it won’t do squat for the nation in the long term.
“So we can work through our representatives to make sure that they don’t support legislation that’s too liberal.”
Will not work. Partly Loyalty to Romney will trump your gripes 99% of the time.
There are many of us who have been here for a long time, and we see things are different.
I am a fullblooded card carrying conservative!
What I see here is not something Jesus would condon!
I have met JIm a few times.. The Freeper ball in 2005 in DC. I sat with Nutmeg and her hubby! I met hellinandcart and hubby! I met Kristinn
I was so excited to be there, I had no words!
Huckabee's band was playing, the Secret Service was staying at our hotel!
I talking to buckhead and Tankerkc for a long time after the Ball!
It was the most exhilarating time of my life!! I remember it like it was yesterday!!
I was so PRoud to be a freeper! It was like a badge of honor!
I still smile when hear Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA!
As bad as some think Bush was, Kerry would have been worse!
Then the Tea Pary sprang into action and I was totally on board! I met JIm again when I moved to Vegas at the TeaParty rally! It was Awesome, I met JIM and his wife and they were the most gracious people as he had been a few years before.. I was looking for Hildy at the time and Jim was directing me to where he thought she went..
It was a great day!
All of you can say what you will, but what I am seeing now is not the same feeling as it was before...
We never get exactly what we want in politics, and no matter how hard you stomp you feet, it isn't going to happen! What we have now is Mitt, and Ryan, and when Mitt chose Paul, He chose to listen to conservatives...
JIm I am sorry you feel as you do, but I know that Ryan is not going to be a Biden! He is going to have a role in policy.. That should make everyone here happy!!!
I was a Palin person, until, I realized she wasn't running and I switched to Perry. Sadly that didn't go well and I gave a ton of money to Newt, whom I have loved for years!! But when all is said and done, We have what we have, and the appointment of Ryan gives me hope the Mitt will want a second term and Ryan will keep him in check.. Fr needs to get back to where they where 10 years ago, and figure out, we don't always get what we want, but we can make it better with activism!!
Sadly that is not a part of FR anymore Do I want to be zotted...Hell no, I was donor for many years.. Do I want to win this election,! Hell yes, there has never been a time in my life that is more important than getting rid of Obama. Jim, I know you are voting on your principles, and that is fine, but do you really want 4 more years of Obama? This is not compromising your principles, this is dong what you Conservative majority wants.. To those of you who think I have no Idea what conservative means? I am an active Teaparty person and I am a strong Christian.. You can flame me all you want, but God is with me, and I hope like heck you realize, that God doesn't give you everything you want, they way you want it.. He works in mysterious ways and you need to adjust to that.! I am Very happy with my relationship with God, and I know that doing God's work doesn't mean denying a Mormon, who God loves as much as you at the moment, until the day of reckoning, make a difference!
I've been thru enough of the GoP in multiple states to know how much it's "shaking" right now.
It's either shaking from fear-on-steroids due to Obama; and/or, it's "shaking" from the RINO takeover; + it's "shaking" from the economic realities and the cultural moral freefall.
When the RINOs shake up the party like it's doing in 2012, there's going to be many in a freefall as they leave the GoP -- which is already under 30% of all registered voters.
Somebody -- Free Republic -- needs to be a secure "land" for them...a firm, unshakeable place in a shaking environment...
FR is ALSO a "pro-God" Web site...As such:
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:28-29)
Thank you, Lord, for a still Free Republic; for an unshakeable kingdom; for having THE Ultimate God who we fear; we will not become cowardly before the liberals, before the Democrats, before the pro-aborts, before the homosexual activists, before the cultists, before the terrorists...give us your strength in our weakness.
"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him." (Luke 12:4-5)
With respect, how do you know this? Romney has already said he isn't going to enact Ryan's budget plan. What role do you anticipate? I'm not trying to be hostile, I really want to know.
"Ive answered that question a million times. No, I will not vote for that lying, abortionist/socialist paperhanging SOB."
Some dummy was claiming that FReepathons used to last for a week. *Sigh*
