Palin's Absence From Convention May Expose Rift
Real Clear Politics ^ | 13 August 2012 | Scott Conroy

If one of Mitt Romney's goals in choosing a running mate was to mine the same mother lode of conservative excitement that John McCain tapped by picking Sarah Palin four years ago, there's one additional dilemma for Romney to address: Palin is still around.

A day after Romney unveiled House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan as his vice-presidential pick, Palin suggested in a statement posted by her Fox News colleague Greta Van Susteren that she would not speak at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa.

Though she has faded from her once commanding perch on the national political scene, Palin’s role in the Republican Party heading into the campaign’s final stretch remains a consequential matter for the Romney team to address.

The former Alaska governor has demonstrated a continued ability to wield significant influence, particularly in Senate and House primary races, but her penchant for doing things her own way has left the lingering possibility that she could either boost the standard-bearer or become a thorn in his side.

For this reason, it was notable when she initially offered only a lukewarm reaction to Romney’s selection of Ryan.

... two Republican sources with knowledge of discussions between the Palin and Romney camps told RCP that Palin would not attend the convention after not receiving an invitation to speak in prime time.

Well I see the Benedict Arnold wing of the conservative movement is alive and well
You people are the useful idiots of the Democrat propaganda machine.

You might want to note who posted this thread, this thread and this thread before you say that again.

Palin needs to disappear and allow Romney/Ryan to move forward without her baggage from 2008.

Au contraire, Rombag needs to bow out and let Palin take his place. She’d win by a large margin.

The only “baggage” she has was created by her political enemies, and Rombag the Rino scum is one of them.

I’m going to vote for him anyway just to get rid of 0kaka. But I loathe him.

Yeah- Gibson went for the jam job and she did quite well. Biden would be flubbing his lips.

Sarah P took the fight for the last 4 years to the enemy. She called them out at every turn. Is she perfect? No. Does she have the mantle of the Patriots? Yes! Photobucket

“You people are the useful idiots of the Democrat propaganda machine. “

So, not believing the lies of obomney makes one a useful idiot? I guess being obomney fan makes you just an idiot... useless idiots are set to destroy the conservative movement and, by extension, the country. Selling your principles, no thanks.

It's one thing to watch Romney's crowd do things that help them lose the election for him and everybody else, but when they DON'T invite the party's celebrities to the event, they hurt themselves even more.

If you want an audience you've got to put on a show somebody might want to watch. Palin is a draw. Even Richard Nixon's coffin would be a draw compared to the event these guys have planned.

Frankly, the kind of thinking that's going on among the convention organizers is strictly bush league and provincial.

Br'r Akin actually has until August 25 to take a hike ~ although replacing him will take a court order (according to talking heads on FOX just a few minutes ago)

The convention hasn't happened and the weather may actually cancel it. So there is time to correct other problems.

But as I"ve been arguing for months, when a candidate shows ethical flaws even after seeming to 'win' primaries (whatever that means) the party has to take appropriate action and get a better candidate in place.

Up until this Akin thing the Romney supporters were against my position ~ now they embrace it like they were there all their lives.

Fundamentally there's no problem at all in jacking up the old candidate and running a brand new one in his place ~ whoever it is!
