Luck is often overlooked or mistaken because it comes dressed up as hard work.

All anyone ever sees is the end result - the Olympic swimmer breaking the world record. The guy who owns a chain of dry cleaners driving his Maserati. Some people (we call them liberals) get jealous of that success.

What conservatives understand is that behind the world record and behind that Maserati are HOURS AND HOURS of backbreaking work. Getting up early, working ALL DAY EVERY DAY until late for YEARS.

In this way, liberals are like children. They need to be taught that true success cannot be handed to you. It can ONLY be earned.

Mostly it's deferred consumption. He has a Maserati now, but he drove a couple old buicks into the ground all his life before that.
