NY sp. election GOP loss a result of fake tea party spoiler not GOP support of Ryan budget plan
Washington Times Water Cooler ^ | 8/12/12 | Kerry Picket

Too many people keep pointing to the Democrats’ Congressional win in the New York 26 special election in the western part of the state as proof that when political ads show granny going over the cliff as a result of Paul Ryan’s budget plan, Republicans will lose. However, the claim is terribly flawed.

First, special elections are unique and the usual election rules do not apply in terms of which candidate eventually goes to the general and how many days the election itself lasts. Following the embarrassing resignation of Rep. Chris Lee, a Republican, Governor Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, in March, called for a special election to fill the vacant seat. Under New York law, the seat had to be filled 30 to 40 days following Cuomo’s announcement.

The race was so obscure, some people who followed politics closely did not realize that other than the Republican, New York State Assemblywoman Jane Corwin and then Democratic candidate Kathy Hochul, a third party candidate made all the difference in the outcome of the election. A well self-financed and faux tea party candidate by the name of Jack Davis, who was later revealed to be liberal Democrat plant.

INDEPENDENT PAYMENT ADVISORY BOARD. We're back in the Roman Coliseum days. Thumbs up or thumbs down whether as a senior citizen you live or dies. Great stuff. I knew the dumbing down of America was happening, but at such rapid pace is mind-boggling. The argument heard is that the insurance companies do it now. The only difference is they have a repeal process and have hardly ever taken a stance that would speed up the demise of a senior citizen. If it's the government, the court of last resort, that decides, baby it's over. My concern about the deceit of the governmental bodies that are not elected and still have great power is when they change the payment date of Social Security from the first of the month, to the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Do you have any idea why that was done?? Figure it out and you'll have my concern for the independent government group.
Paul Ryan's plan is legitimate, fiscally sound and will solve a problem created over many years to a solution that will take time, but will be successful. I remember being told by an economics professor in 1955 that Social Security will not be able to stand the test of time. Was he on the button or what. That was the argument in 1935 when it was made law. Let's straighten things out with Ryan's plan.

Dead wrong. Not only did I follow this one closely, I have people that live there. It wasn’t so much the budget as the characterization of the budget.

We need to stop living in a bubble about some of these things, polls included, or year in and year out the GOP elite will lead us off cliff after cliff.

Yeah, obomacare “cuts Medicare more than Romney and Ryan would.”

“obomacare reduces spending using a GOVERNMENT-CENTERED APPROACH. THE NEW LAW CREATES A NEW PANEL CALLED THE INDEPENDENT PAYMENT ADVISORY BOARD, WHICH WILL BE COMPOSED OF 15 UNELECTED GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, WHO WILL BE CHARGED WITH RATIOING CARE TO SENIORS, PRIMARILY BY UNDERPAYING DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS.”

Yeah, the “Independent Payment Advisory Board”, better known as the Death Panels, will make obomacare AVAILABLE to seniors, but will NOT AUTHORIZE treatment to seniors the board feels unnecessary...seniors, you know, are non-productive, contribute nothing to the state. Better the money for seniors’ care be applied to the productive age groups of our population, who will produce for the state, for socialist/communist/marxist/sharia law loving thug oboma. Seniors will get pain pills only....dictator oboma has decreed it be so!

Kick oboma’s azz out in November. Period.

Hochul (D)- 52,713

Davis (fake tea party dem) - 10,029

You're telling me that Davis had no effect whatsoever?
