Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.
But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.
And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.
And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.
That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.
Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.
That is pretty intellectually dishonest.
WHAaaatt? Your posts on this thread have been totally in defense of mormonism and against Christianity showing your total ignorance of mormonism, and you are making the above specious claim..."You post from a site that appeals to Messianic Jews or Jews for Jesus that does not have the same explanation for all non-Jewish faiths"
And you call ME dishonest? What a load of crap! The same explanation cannot be made for "all non-Jewish faiths" because "all non-Jewish faiths" are not a total fiction invented by a con-man.
You are a fraud, sf.
Attack the messenger, much? Ummmm GF, WHERE have we seen this tactic before?
I’m starting to wonder if sf4dubya ain’t Daniel C Peterson, an LDS apologist (who was recently fired for his abrasive conduct) and is a professor of Islamic Studies and Arabic in the Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages at Brigham Young University and currently serves as editor-in-chief of BYU’s Middle Eastern Texts Initiative. He is a member of the executive council of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship at Brigham Young University.
Same MO.
This entire thread is filled with vile, ugly opinions and personal insults. What has happened here? What started this?
Also, the mormon time-honored tactic of attempting to totally highjack the thread.
It is very obvious that FR is the target of the mormon church's army of internet missionaries...I just wonder how they were able to gain access to so many early accounts.
Could it possibly be that a mod was able to furnish access to further the Romney cause?
Jim posted his site’s support of Judeo-Christian beliefs. Some people have a real problem with that as evidenced by some of the hate filled screeds on this thread.
Ahhhh. Now it is beginning to make sense.
As another FReeper puts it, "bowlsheet"!
OH; just a few lies...
That explains a lot. While linguistically beautiful, the King James version of the bible is not considered by some to be as reliable as some other translations.
I see. You have a very unusual posting history. It doesn’t seem consistent at all.
But then again, you like to attack the messenger - - well at least on THIS thread.
First, when anyone does this just say "no." If they're telling lies or something, that's an additional issue. I don't have time to go back and re-read y'all's conversation.
Some chrstian FReepers think that the USA is a special, holy, chosen country whose unique Fundamentalist Protestantism is the One True Religion Restored, that all our Founders were orthodox chrstians, and that our founding documents are divinely inspired (ironically, this latter belief is actually an official belief of mormonism). Now--I know this attitude is hard to put up with (it raises my blood pressure too, just like the "King James Only" people), but it is an unfortunate tendency of chrstianity (with belief in a . . . ugh . . . god become man) to want to radically localize that "gxd" into the home country. Almost every single chrstian country in history has at one time or another tried to make this claim of being "THE" special chosen holy country. Have you ever heard of the Armenians? And the Ethiopians not only claim that their imperial dynasty was descended from Solomon and Sheba, but to actually have the Ark of the Covenant as well! American chrstian nationalism is relatively recent and mild compared to the chrstian nationalism of older countries.
Now I am not Jewish but a Noachide, which means (since technically all non-Jews are Noachides) that I'm not a minority in exile. Not being a minority in exile, I don't play the "religious freedom" card very often, because I'm a fundie. (Most Orthodox Jews are fundies, but being a minority in exile don't feel comfortable in "coming out" about it.). This means that I don't justify my beliefs on any permission granted by Thomas Jefferson (whose anti-Biblical religious beliefs were certainly problematic). I'm a Noachide because that is what G-d commands. It doesn't matter if it's "un-American" or not. All that matters is what G-d says . . . not what the traditional beliefs of one's country may be. The notion that everyone is supposed to automatically be the religion of his country's tradition regardless of what it might be is patently ridiculous. Are all Arabs supposed to be moslems?
So . . . just my advice: if or when someone implies that Judaism is "un-American" simply because it isn't the religion of the majority of the people who settled this country in the seventeenth century, don't wave the First Amendment around as if Judaism were based on it. It is not. Judaism is based on the Torah, nothing else. And it requires the permission of no one, most especially a bunch of eighteenth century "enlightenment" deists, to practice.
So instead of sounding like the ACLU, just take a chaw of terbakky, spit, and say something like "Hot dammit, y'all! Ah don' keer WHO-ALL started this country, y'hear??? All that matters is what GAWWWWWWWD (and be sure to pronounce it like that) says, and He didn't found no johnny-come-lately liberal religion like chrstianity!" Then take another chaw, hitch up your bib overalls, and walk out like you owned the place. That's what I always do.
I believe most here agree, that is the crux of the problem. That horse is already out of the barn, way to late too close the barn door this time. How do you propose to prevent too many conservative candidates from entering the primaries in the future?
Just so you don't misunderstand where I'm coming from, nothing in this world would persuade me to vote for the extreme liberal Mitt Romney, absolutely nothing.
Tom Hoefling is my guy too and that's a recent decision, formerly, I was going to vote for Virgil Goode. Neither man, both of whom are worthy to vote for, much much more so than Romney/Obama, will be our next President. I will vote the way I believe is right, not who I think may win. It's not a horse race nor a jack ass race considering the two major candidates.
I hate it when I do that. I do know how to use "to" and "too" in a sentence.
Then take another chaw, hitch up your bib overalls, and walk out like you owned the place.
***That is good advice to your friend. She’s been pinged to 2 recent threads on judaism and can spread her wares over there in the religion forum where it belongs and she won’t be accused of hijacking the thread.
