None of us cashes a SCOTUS paycheck. It simply is not within our bailiwick to wax on and on about Minor vs Habbersett, or Wong Kim Ark, or various works by Puffendorf or Vattel. The fact of the matter is that the courts have abdicated their constitutional responsibilities. Why for example, is the child of two ILLEGAL immigrants held to be an American Citizen at Birth? That is certainly not the law here the way I read it. And in fact, it's certainly not the law anywhere else. In fact, the child born here of LEGAL aliens becomes a citizen upon naturalization, not automatically by reason of native birth.
At this point in our history, The SCOTUS must stop turning down those who appeal these citizenship cases before them on meretricious grounds. Our Republic needs to establish what is a citizen, who is a citizen, and what a "Natural Born Citizen" is.
Our courts ... especially the SCOTUS have betrayed us by refusing to handle the question, so anyone's opinion is as good as anyone else's. E.G., I mean ...gasp...I could be wrong ... so could you!
This question is beyond cracker-barrel lawyers and philosophers. We pay people to handle it professionally. Be 'bout time they did.
Our country has forgotten what "natural born citizen" means because it has forgotten what "citizen" means.
That gold medalist at the Olympics who was waving both U.S. and Mexican victory flags, this man who was the child of illegal immigrants who came to this country, has no idea what it means to be an American citizen. His parents were illegals and didn't care about America or American citizenship, so he (the anchor baby) never learned it either.
