RUSH: Now, here's Romney. This was this morning on NBC News. F. Chuck Todd was talking to Romney, and F. Chuck said, "Do you have a feeling that this campaign has turned into a race to the bottom?" Because your ad -- your ad, Mr. Romney -- it's the lowest of the low and even the New York Times says so!
Do you feel we're racing to the bottom here?
ROMNEY: Our campaign would be helped immensely if we had an agreement between both campaigns that we were only going to talk about issues, and that attacks based upon business or family or taxes or things of that nature, that this is just a diversion. Our ads haven't gone after the president personally. Our ads talk about his record as president and failure of his policies to create jobs, but we haven't dredged up the old stuff that people talked about last time. We haven't gone after the personal things.
RUSH: Hmmm.
So is Romney asking for credit for that, or is he on the defensive? (paraphrased exchange) F. Chuck says, "Is your campaign going to the bottom?" and Romney says, "No, no, we're not going to the bottom. We need a truce. We need a truce." Now, some people... I should say Mr. Snerdley is going nuts in there. I have heard some people think that if you read between the lines there, that there's a threat from Romney, maybe a preview of what's coming.
We haven't done it, quote, "yet." We haven't gotten personal "yet." We haven't dredged up that old stuff that people talked about last time around "yet," like Jeremiah Wright and like Bill Ayers. We haven't done that "yet." Some people say that's what they hear in this ad. Others are saying, "No, no, it's not that. That's wishful thinking. If that's what you think you're hearing, it's wishful thinking." What Romney is asking is for Obama to stop the negative stuff.
And, of course, if that's the case, that's laughable, it isn't going to happen. And, again, people are saying: "You didn't have any problem going personal with Newt. You didn't have any problems going personal with Santorum. You didn't have any problem with going personal with Bachmann. What is it with Obama? Why in the world do we not pull the trigger against Obama? What is everybody afraid of?" We all know the answer: Race.

RUSH: We've got a new Romney ad, by the way. It's number 26. It's Romney slamming the Obama PAC ad. This is, I guess, Romney firing back at the ad in which Romney's accused of committing murder.
ANNOUNCER: What does it say about a president's character when his campaign tries to use the tragedy of a woman's death for political gain?
RUSH: Never mind. Hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it. Stop the tape. Stop the tape. It doesn't do any good to play this, because it's full of graphics after the first question. They quote various newspapers.
"Scraping bottom," Chicago Tribune.
"Disgusting," ABC News.
ABC News, "Obama campaign knowing" lying about it.
"Unfair attacks," CBS News.
So what Romney has done here in this ad is collected a bunch of network and newspaper printed-word editorials. They ask these questions, and they use the graphic excerpts of the editorials in the ad. And, of course, it ends with "I'm Mitt Romney and I approve this message." So that's their fight-back: Quoting the media on their reaction to Obama's PAC ad accusing Romney of committing murder.

Yes, the 16th and 17th amendments are both very controversial. For example, many (perhaps most) people like the notion of “the people” directly electing Senators. The down side is that our state governments have lost their direct connection to Senators and thus have no direct representation in the U.S. government. As a result, federalism and states’ rights have taken a beating. As things now stand, though, most people take your view of the 17th amendment and it will likely remain with us for as far out as we can see.
I know. Harry Reid is one of the worst low-lifes in the congress, but he also has a higher NRA rating than a lot of Republicans. As for the Mormons though, I am surprised to see Harry Reid going at Romney the way he does, as in the accusation of Romney not paying taxes. Seems like a strange way for two members of the same church to be treating each other.
Not an unpleasant thought.
Shame on you!!
(for posting what I was thinking first)
With them big ocean blue eyes.
“The down side is that our state governments have lost their direct connection to Senators and thus have no direct representation in the U.S. government. As a result, federalism and states rights have taken a beating.”
Actually, the Civil War pretty much ended “State’s Rights” (as originally intended) and the idea that this country was just a “Union” of sovereign States. Before the Civil War people used to say (which is proper grammar) that “the United States are...” Since then we all say “the United States is.” The Civil War (for better or worse) changed us from and “are to an is.” Most Americans think of the country as a single entity, not a union of states. States are viewed, by most, as inferior to the Country. States have become to the country what counties are to states. I’m not saying this is right or wrong, I’m simply stating what I “think” the majority view of our country is.
His McCainiac moment?
Can we still draft someone else? my God.
I can’t disagree with what you’re saying. I’d like there to be more respect for our state governments, but you’re right about what we’re dealing with now.
Specifically....go at Obama with the facts. And one fact is that though obama has said 'those who do not want to reveal the truth, they have something to hide'. So Mr. President unseal your college records...What are you hiding? Unseal your passport...What are you hiding? Unseal you leagal writings....What are you hiding? Do this often and whenever obama evinces that he wants to criticize Romneys record. Record for Record Mr. Obama.
Specifically.....go the hell on offence and begin the define Obama. Remind them of Ayers, Wright, Davis, his own writings in his several 'autobiographies'. Tell the public why his character is in question....that he laughs when he tell of doing dope and cocaine. He thinks it is funny. Go to Youtube and see it for yourself. Is he the kind of person you want your children to emulate.
Specifically....Reminds the public often of what obama has done to Freedom, free enterprise, the Constitution,...do it often and loudly.
Specifically....Go on OFFENCE.
And Specifically....you are surely smart enough to to leave your snarkey pissant remarks out of it. We are about to lose the presidency to obama and some feel this will result in destruction to our Republic which might be irreparable.
You don't need to write back unless you need to offload some inane remarks again.
bump
This isn’t about Romney. It’s about stopping 0bama.
There is no way in hell anyone but 0bama or Romney wins.
There is no way in hell Romney is worse than 0bama [court picks, marxist policies, unbounded spending.]
There is no way in hell the America’s Party does anything but give 0bama a win.
It is just plain stupid to do anything that may help 0bama win. Stupid. And you’re asking others to do this stupid thing. Idiotic.
I’m no fan of Romney - and I’m even less a fan of 0bama. So, Romney it will have to be.
The time to bitch and moan about our nominee has passed. Were you unaware?
If you wanted a different nominee, you should have done more in the primary you lazy azz.
If it weren’t for lazy whining botches, we may not have ended up w/ Romney - but we did. So I will support him and ask others to do so in order to avoid an 0bama win.
So next time do something about it before the nominee is decided. Please.
He was competing against them during the primaries. Did you expect all the candidates do what the rat candidates did during the 2004 presidential election when they all acted as they were going to share the presidency?
I am sure you would be happy if that arrogant pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave gets reelected and can finish what he started. Which is the destruction of this great country
He will lose. And it's more likely people will be voting for the Veep
instead of him.
Dare I call him a pussy? I just did. Just sad.
Yeah like a third Party candidate will win the election. You might as well push the button for that arrogant pos occupant, because you will be be voting for him whether you realize it or not. Wake up
Leave it to Romney to haul out the Country Club Rulebook and show up with the Clubhouse Lawyer ...to what Obama has planned as a gun, knife and broken bottle party.
Tom DeLay ...and Lee Atwater are the only Republicans I can recall who understood that politics, as practiced by the Democrat Party, was a bar-room brawl-and they had the savvy to read the room right before-hand and knew who was going to do what and when.
Forget it. I am not going to vote for any third party candidate who doesn’t have no chance
“Forget it. I am not going to vote for any third party candidate who doesnt have no chance”
IOW you have and can use the fully formed, logical brain, which God gave you.
(Whereas some learned nothing from 1992 Perot, or from GOP primary of 2012 and splitting the vote. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.)
And you expect him to win against that arrogant pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave? Unbelievable
Harry Reid could say “Romney is a mormon and mormons hate blacks” and not one person in the media would remind him that he’s a mormon, too.
Mitt is not going to win this. He doesn’t want to win it. And the GoPElites don’t want to win it either. That’s why they picked Romney. They KNEW his mormonism and his wealth would be used against him.
