It is quite obvious the Dems want the tax records not because they believe this sham but because once released they will pour over them line by line by line and highlight every tax advantage Romney used and making the point “average” tax payers could not do likewise because they aren't rich enough.
He is correct to refuse and he simply needs to stick to what the voters feel are the important issues. No voter will change their vote and no undecideds will make their final choice on something like this.

I believe this is a trap set by Romney. Let as many Dems and MSM make the specific claim that Romney didn’t pay taxes for 10 years. If the McCain aide is correct, they are being fed a lie. Romney would do well to wait this out as long as possible, possibly let the WH or Obama himself weigh in, then release his tax returns, showing all of them to be false witnesses, liars, and the MSM so partisan as to be unbelievable. Game, set, match Romney.
Think, Reid said 10 years of taxes and we've seen 2010 taxes so there is only a 3-4 year gap at most all way after the Bain Years. As for the McCain aid (probably an expert in these matters) he has a personal knowledge of the issue where neither Reid nor his source does. I say this issue goes away unless we are lucky.
