I been trying to preach that since the 2008 disaster. I used to post in 2009 that Republicans need to pick a number of issues that unite them and split Dems to either make them cave or at least weaken them. After a series of those successful battles weakening Dems with public (voters) opinion they can move onto bigger more challenging fights. (That is not to say that there are no risks in cherry picking fights like that though, it has to be done correctly as a progression .)

I see Republicans take too many conservative looking stands (since Boehner took the House) that they dont seem serious about trying to fight and win. It leaves me with the belief that those positions are meant to be symbolic stands to ward off primary challenges to cover up the vREAL BILLS that they are passing that actually goes into law, and those symbolic 'conservative;' bills are not meant by them to ever be law, or even debated with Dems during the general election. So I wonder if they even believe in them.

I don’t think that they do believe them. And I think your analysis astutely grasps the real situation: Things now stand where you indicate.

They don’t believe in them, they are just con jobs. Time to clean house!
