“No one pressured Vante. Vante, a private company, made this decision themselves and as a private entity have every right to do so. I support this right. The community didn’t make the decision to fire Smith, they did. This is the difference between the true belief in free speech as demonstrated by conservatives and progressives.”


Not sure I can agree with Dana here. There have been lots of comments on FR that the Vante website was not working most likely due to a huge influx of people expressing their displeasure.

I kind of felt wrong about this at first. It said that people looked up his employer, so the guy wasn’t specifically advertising it.

I’ve always feared that, despite my meticulous attention to avoiding ANY mention of what I do or where I work, or discussing anything about my job, someone who doesn’t like something I write will dig into my personal information, and contact my employer, and get me fired.

But he was an officer with the company — that is a special relationship, and carries extra responsibility.
