The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee issued an apology to casino mogul and prominent Republican donor Sheldon Adelson on Thursday, after the billionaire threatened to sue the organization over comments insinuating he profited from prostitution at his Chinese resorts.
"In press statements issued on June 29 and July 2, 2012, the DCCC made unsubstantiated allegations that attacked Sheldon Adelson, a supporter of the opposing party," the DCCC said in an e-mail released Thursday. "This was wrong. The statements were untrue and unfair and we retract them. The DCCC extends its sincere apology to Mr. Adelson and his family for any injury we have caused."

The Harry Reid needs to apologize to Mitt Romney now.
At least that WAS an apology...unlike the one to Charles Krauthammer from the White House press guy. I challenge you to find the apology herein:
Charles,
I take your criticism seriously and you are correct that you are owed an apology. There was clearly an internal confusion about the two busts and there was no intention to deceive. I clearly overshot the runway in my post. The point I was trying to make under the belief that the Bust in the residence was the one previously in the Oval Office was that this oft repeated talking point about the bust being a symbol of President Obamas failure to appreciate the special relationship is false. The bust that was returned was returned as a matter of course with all the other artwork that had been loaned to President Bush for display in his Oval Office and not something that President Obama or his Administration chose to do. I still think this is an important point and one I wish I had communicated better.
A better understanding of the facts on my part and a couple of deep breaths at the outset would have prevented this situation. Having said all that, barring a miracle comeback from the Phillies I would like to see the Nats win a world series even if it comes after my apology
Thanks,
Dan Pfeiffer
Sue them anyways.
The only way to get them to not slander our people in the first place is make them PAY and Pay big for their slander...
Sue every single one even remotely involved...
That will stop them from flapping their foul mouths if they know it WILL ABSOULELY cost them dearly
He should still sue them!
My neighbor had a large yacht on a trailer in front of his house for about 6 months. Finally the cops caught wind of it and they started writing tickets on it.
This went on for weeks ~ finally he called them up to have it towed away. They came, hauled away the yacht, and arrested him. Guess he hadn't really "won" the yacht but somebody thought he had ~ just one thing after the other.
He got out of jail about 2 years later.
You’re right, he should sue anyway. After all, they admitted guilt. Should be an open and shut case.
You’re right that WAS an apology.
I think the reason it took a full month for it to be issued was because the DCCC had to be horsewhipped into a corner first.
I’ll bet they were going to put out some ‘if we’ve offened anyone...........’ kind of statement. Then the Adelson lawyers got involved and wrote the apology for them, along with “either you say this, or we’ll see you in court”.
Absolutely. These liberal -political bottom feeders are of the opinion that they can slander anyone. When caught in their lies they readily get away with a simple mea culpa. B.S.! Hoist them on their own petard and make a media event out of their accusations. Course their is no media willing to report as doing so would threaten their already precarious position with their viewers and voting public.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

RICO Act the jerks!! They respect no one.
Just a bunch of criminals masquerading as politicians.
It would have simultaneously meant negative publicity for the DCCC and a massive drain on their coffers for legal expenses. I'd loved to have seen Adelson put them through the wringer.
