People across the country are flocking to Chick-fil-A today, not because of the fast-food chain's chicken sandwiches, but because of its CEO's vocal support of traditional marriage.
Nearly 600,000 supporters signed up to celebrate Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day today, which former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee created to counter a boycott launched by gay marriage activists last week after Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy said he was "guilty as charged" for not supporting gay marriage...
Courtney Clem, 22, strolled over to the Chick-fil-A in Crystal City, Va., to pick up lunch for her entire office and show her support. Clem said she wanted to eat at Chick-fil-A today not only because she supports traditional marriage but because she supports the First Amendment.
"We want to support their right to an opinion," Clem said. "I do support that opinion. And the right. Even if it was an opinion I disagreed with, I'd be here today. "

Gay rights groups launched a national boycott of the chicken chain last week, which the mayors of Chicago, San Francisco, Boston and Washington, D.C., have publically supported.
The Philadelphia City Council is considering a resolution to condemn the company for what councilman Jim Kenney called their "Anti-American attitude."
D.C. councilman Marion Barry tweeted that he does not support "hate chicken," Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino said there is "no place for your company" in his city and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said the restaurant's "values are not Chicago values."
The Chicago Republican Party is making a formal complaint against Emanuel today, alleging that the mayor has "broken civil rights laws pertaining to religious freedom and the First Amendment in denying Chick-fil-A a permit...
National conservative figures have responded to the controversy with an outpouring of support for the restaurant.

We had never eaten before at CFA. My husband had the day off and has been in line for more than two hours and wonders if the place will run out of food. There are two lines circling the area and news camera only just showed up.
It is frightening when the right to own a business is to be decided by such criteria. It is like the former Soviet Union. I have seen no demands to close down amazon.com whose CEO Jeff Bezos has contributed $2.5 million to promote gay-marriage laws. Bill Gates also made a heft contribution to gay marriage.
Have there been any reports from those areas? D.C., Boston, Chicago...?
Goodyear, AZ! Intersections blocked, lines around the building. Employees passing out free paper cups of water! 100 degrees in the shade!
We’ll be at the Suffolk CFA tonight. Looking forward to it.
I’m looking at this and what I see is November. I’m also hoping that nobody in the Democrat party is paying attention.
“So where are all the Gaystapo faggies with their counterprotest same-sex gross-in and threatened confrontation with us hated breeders?
Oh...sorry, forgot......thats Friday at 8:00 p.m. when most of the bigot antigay homophobic heteros will be eating supper at home with their families.”
Not exactly a show of bravery, is it? If they truly had the courage of their convictions you would think the Kiss-In would have been staged for today.
I just got back. My daughters and I waited 35 minutes in a line that snaked through and around the building, with the parking lot packed and employees taking orders in the street.
This is a HUGE win for people who will not be bullied or intimidated into silence.
The left can only embarass themselves on Friday.
wow, thanks for that link! So it is true. You ought to post that as its own news thread on FR.
And of course the lamestream media will cover the gay gross-in like white on rice, and do its best to magnify the actual numbers of protesters in order to advance the lie that there is widespread support for the gaystapo societal assault.
Ha, it was for a good cause. ;)
Same here. I tried, but with only an hour for lunch, I couldn’t do it.
It was a beautiful sight to behold, though!
Man, this warms my heart to see this kind of response all over the USA. If this is the reaction to political thuggery against just one business, what does this mean for Nov. elections? I can only hope.
“The left can only embarass themselves on Friday.”
Just thinking the same exact thing.
Tried to go to our Chick-Fil-A after lunch hour rush. At 1:20PM there was a mile long traffic jam filling 4 lanes.
When I finally got there, the parking lot was full and cars were parking along the side of the road and anywhere they could find a place. People were walking over 1/2 a mile in places just to get carryout. This is Reynoldsburg Ohio. Not much of a battleground state here.
Meanwhile, this should be a clue that a number of people are fed up with pandering to the gay lobby.
These reports are just amazing.
Perhaps some of us can surprise them.
“Meanwhile, this should be a clue that a number of people are fed up with pandering to the gay lobby.”
The really sad thing - or actually the incredibly funny thing - is that its too late now for Obama or the Dems to take back the same sex marriage endorsement and gay marriage plank announcement for the DNC in North Carolina. Had they forseen this, they might have used caution; as it stands now, though, its too late for them to put the genie back in the bottle.
Probably a very good idea to show up at their staged kiss-in.
The Big Man upstairs is smiling today.
