Americus Reed, a marketing professor at University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School who studies brand loyalty, says Cathy underestimated what might happen once his comments to a niche religious publication and a syndicated radio show spread to a wider audience.
"I think this is part of the wake-up call for companies to understand that social media makes these decisions very, very risky," Reed said, "because it's much easier now for these messages to get out to consumers and consumers to virtually organize."

It’s turned relatively positive for the the company.
They never said they were against gays but rather, they are for marriage between a man and a woman.
I feel the same way.
Too bad you didn't get a video LOL I'm imagining Truman Capote in a snit...
Went in to eat and there were two flamers with a poster sign screaming,ENJOY YOUR BISCUITS OF HATE!....
Isn’t it strange that those who revel in hate, abuse and intolerance consistantly project those traits on others?
When I first read that I thought you meant they left biscuits of hate... from their butts.
Keep dreaming.
LOL
Inserting reason into these threads is never welcome.
Repeat after me:
JC Penny was at the top of it’s game until it featured ads with same sex couples, then it fell to the bottom.
Chick-Fil-A’s politically driven surge in business is forever. Being neutral is bad business.
You may have to practice for a while before you can say either with a straight face, but trust me, it’s the party line.
I agree!
Backwoods-engineer,
I do eat coleslaw and tried it the other day at CFA and I absolutely agree with you! Their side salad is a decent salad too, has some cheese, tomatoes and various greens and cabbage.
Loved my meal and thanks for the suggestion!
Good for you, I’m not a vegetarian but I respect you and your tolerance for non-vegetarians and for defending the 1st amendment.
Some vegetarians are very militant fascists, just like the smoke nazis

Thanks Dallas! I’m a vegetarian only because I’m one of those weird people that cannot stand the taste of meat. I actually cook it for my husband and when our kids lived at home for them too.
My parents would make me eat it nightly since everyone else in our family was. This was in the 60’s and 70’s when if you didn’t clean your plate your parents were sure you were going to die of malnutrition!
True, but they influence were the spending power is directed. Parents devote more purchasing power to the needs of the nuclear family than gays do, whereas gays spend much more time and money on their pet causes and left-wing advocacy than typical nuclear family is able to, hence the disproportionate power & influence of gays.
Nice pun! One assumes his family lived near Americus, Georgia.
While your "Affirmative Action points" thing would be true, do you actually know that he is homosexual, or are you making an assumption based on the earrings?
I’ll be a little more impressed with this marketing Professor when he pays a little more attention to the bottom line before drawing conclusions. That is, after all, what a marketeer is paid to do. BTT.
You’re not alone. When I went on Monday the gentleman behind me explained the the young man taking his order that the reason he was here was because of the recent brouhaha and that although he himself was a vegetarian, he came anyways to show his support. The young man taking his order helped him out by showing him a vegetarian alternative.
