The controversy caused by Chick-fil-A COO Dan Cathy's interview, in which he said the company was "guilty as charged" for making large donations to anti-gay causes, has not been good for the restaurant's brand, GLAAD reports:
Chick-Fil-A and the Top National QSR Sector were measured with YouGov BrandIndex's Index score, the company's flagship brand health measurement.
The Index score is an average of key scores measuring quality, impression, value, reputation, satisfaction and willingness to recommend. All measurements were filtered for adults 18+ who have eaten fast food in the past month. The Top National QSR sector average includes such brands as Pizza Hut, Arby's, Papa John's, Domino's, Taco Bell, KFC, McDonald's, Burger King, and Long John Silver's.
Chick-fil-A's index score has dropped 26 points since Dan Cathy's interview:
YouGov BrandIndex measurement scores range from 100 to -100 and are compiled by subtracting negative feedback from positive. A zero score means equal positive and negative feedback.
On July 16th, the day the Baptist Press published its Dan Cathy interview, Chick-Fil-A's Index score was 65, a very substantial 19 points above the Top National QSR Sector average score that day of 46.
Four days later, Chick-Fil-A had fallen to 47 score, three points below the Top National QSR Sector average score of 50. This past Wednesday, Chick-Fil-A had a 39 score compared to the Top National QSR Sector average score of 43.

I have been completing an occasional survey for them for several years now. Never have I seen a survey which specifically identifies the name CFA on those that ask, “Did you eat at.....”. Sent an email to them and it appears I am on a segregated list so I wouldn’t have received that particular one. Probably because I identified my religion as Southern Baptist and listed Conservative Tea Party as my political party. Based on that they have already decided what I think about certain issues and don’t bother to ask.
I think its important to post what the opposing side is thinking, and up to. People on FR are not weaklings, and they are shrewd enough to recognize bias and propaganda when they see it.
I actually thought it was amusing that GLAAD jumped on this, because we all know sales and branding will spike back up in August.
The goal is to amuse, and to facilitate responses. Nothing bad intended - and the title may be a downer, but who here’s buying it? ; ) Cheers.
Well, as a journalist and press person I am pretty neutral about the actual sites. I am more interested in the social conservative response to news posted there: Yours, mine, and everyone’s at FR. Thus far most people aren’t buying this piece, nor did I.
“Its not publicly traded, unfortunately.”
If it were, they and all their officers would pretty much have to avoid taking positions that don’t match up with current liberal fashion, like most other public corporations.
I don’t believe any of this MSM garbage, but even if it were true, Dan Cathy still won........ because he was right.

Sorry if my descriptive term offended you. My use was IAW Dictionary.com’s use, both #8 and #12, which are defined as follows: “To exert (oneself) in a great effort” and “To exert oneself, hustle, or hurry,” respectively.
In deference to you and any others who may have not understood my meaning in this case, I shall make greater effort to avoid use of words which may have dual meanings which are vulgar.
Thanks for your prompt.
True. And I wager in August Chick-Fil-A will have a huge spike in both sales and brand approval ratings. The good will out.
Maybe their “Brand Approval” is plummeting, but their “Brand Loyalty” is soaring. Just ate there for the third day in a row today (skipping Sunday, of course) and will likely eat there every day for the next week.
...until the left leaves them alone.
Good for you! That’s the fighting spirit needed right now.
Yep, let them have their moment of celebration now, because testing times are surely ahead for the gay agenda. I think Chick-Fil-A will come out on top.
Looks like to me it’s more about ad sales and satisfaction than it is about actual sales. CFA and Southwest aren’t even national brands, yet they’re in the top 5 and both advertise nationally. I freakin’ hate Subway, but they have some of the funniest ads on TV.
“Good for you! Thats the fighting spirit needed right now.”
Yea, they’re a bit more pricey than McDonalds, but the food is great, and I’ll keep supporting them, DAILY, until they’re left alone.
I think it is August 1st, right?
we need our own shopping mall, media outlets and ma and pa grocery stores.
I was struck by the lopsidedness of the airline numbers.
lol. Good advice. We went there tonight and had a great meal. He was not there but we had a very nice woman working. I was so tempted to ask about how the contriversy was going, but I knew I would get an elbow from the wife so I abstained. Lol. It was steady tonight. What I like about Chick Fil A is the food first of course, but I also like how they are pleasant and so courteous. I mean I asked for a refill which she gave and I said “thank you” and she said, “my pleasure”....I NEVER HEARD a person in McD’s say anything even remotely close to that. Normally it is a big sigh with a grab of the cup and then hand it back while they go on to something else.
I have never met anyone who admits to eating McDonalds but everytime I pass one it is mobbed.
Go figure.
If people like the food they will buy it and no one stays away from a restaurant for political reasons, at least not enough to make any difference at all.
When will America have had enough of the bullying from the gay community? I’ve had enough, that’s for sure. It’s time to push back, and push back hard. Take the gloves off.
