A Romney campaign official has blasted Boris Johnson, the London Mayor, as an eccentric, odd fellow whose public attack on the Republican candidate was unbecoming and an indication of his bias towards President Barack Obama. The official said that Prime Minister David Camerons wisecrack about it being harder to stage an Olympic Games in London than in the middle of nowhere an apparent reference to Salt Lake City, where Romney oversaw the 2002 Winter Olympics was probably appropriate, albeit awkward and unfortunate for Romney Johnson on the other hand lived up to his reputation as an eccentric, odd fellow. It was unbecoming to attack Governor Romney in that way. There really was no need. But Johnson made it clear in 2008 that his vote would have gone to Obama.

So . . . why are the Brits trying to help Obama, exactly?
Although I agree that the Brits, including Bore-us Johnson, overreacted mightily to Romney’s comment about being “concerned” about what he’d read re: private security for the Olympics,
Romney and his team need to STFU about domestic British concerns. Just stick to happy crappy talk about the importance of UK- USA relations, smile and wave.
Honestly, glad he didnt apologize. Everyone freakin apologizes for freakin everything now.
Well he IS an eccentric odd fellow. Most of Britain knows it.
Ok, this has officially entered “The Silly Zone.”
Theyre not. They are going at Romney because he is making comments about the London Olympics.
for the record- the Brits ragged on Johnson for the way he showed up at the flag handover ceremony at the close of the 2008 games:
“Britons proud of their athletes’ achievements have vented their frustrations at being left “the laughing stock of the world” by the show, which featured rocker Jimmy Page, X-Factor winner Leona Lewis and footballer David Beckham.

The routine, which also included a performance by urban dance troupe ZooNation and the use of a red London bus, was meant to showcase the capital as the new host city of the Games.
But many have objected to its informality - and the scruffy state of Mayor Boris Johnson waving the flag - compared to the neat choreography of the Chinese display.
Because they, like 47% of Americans, like being crapped on.
No matter what continent the future Emperor is on,
he must be defended.
By his staff.
By women.
By his sons.
The issues of the day NEVER matter, it is the insult
to the Inevitable Emperor that must be addressed.
So now, Mr. RomneyCARE in a dumb moment
smears England, and INSTEAD of apologizing,
Mr. RomneyCARE (of DeathPANEL fame)
DOUBLES DOWN.
Shameless. Or was that Seamus.
Isn’t Boris Johnson the Commy Symp Mayor who was on the take from Saddam Hussein when the UN was trying to curtail his WMD? I should think that any criticism from him would raise Romney’s stock!
he didn’t say he was concerned- why asked about instances of recent f-ups before the games even began Romney called them “disconcerting” and he was right...
fact is i am from NY and i was at the SLC games in 2002- they took place less then 6 months after the 9-11 attacks, so this “games in the middle of nowhere” BS is exactly that...the degree of security, which has always been paramount at the Olympics, was stepped up ten fold in just a few months....people forget that...
Security in the middle of White Mormonland will probably BE easier than London with its Moose troubles.
Smears or tells the truth about what anyone with the sense that God gave everyone, but Diogensis, the ability to see?
You do know that you’re a joke, right?
btw: from the USA Today live blog of the opening ceremonies, happening now;
“”MAYBE MITT WAS ON TO SOMETHING” (8:06 p.m. London/3:06 p.m. ET): At London’s historic Trafalgar Square, crowds gathered more than an hour before opening ceremonies only to be told that there would be no big screen to view the show as previously advertised, reports USA TODAY’s Kevin Johnson. Money quote, from fan Leela Marshall:”
If I recall correctly I believe Johnson is a communist. If so that explains the support for Obama...
Why exactly is Mittens even prolonging this meaningless tussle? Are the British going to elect him?
Maybe food stamps, or was it a path the citizenship??
/SS
No, he isn’t.
