Good FRiend, you don’t know the South. This family lives in Atlanta.
They’re already covered up in congealed salad, ham and chicken, vegetable casseroles, sweet tea, and more good desserts than you can even imagine. That church family don’t need no caterer.
Your well-meaning sentiment might be so in other parts of the country, but not in the Bible belt. Promise.

He was a Church of Christ elder, right? That’s like having a family of 100-500, give or take.

I live in Tn. My son in law's father died yesterday. His wife was employed by one of the largest churches in the country. Lots of paper goods, but NO deserts. Come on folks I know a lot of people from that church read FR. How about some desert!

You said it.
My Philadelphia mom marriage a southern man from Texas and was transplanted down here. She was taken aback by the custom, but loved it. Much nicer than flowers.

Almost makes you want to look forward to the passing away of another saint in the church. ;-)

Bless your heart Jedidah you are right. This will be a big deal and more food and people taken care of it all.
We still pull off the side of the road when a funeral progression passes by.
Chick-fil-a will not have to do a thing we respect our families and the dead down here. May GOD Bless you, Seahawkfan with a trip to the south.
We are pros at wedding and funeral food down here.
