Top political figures in Britain have been queuing up to criticise Mitt Romney after he kicked off his first foreign tour by publicly questioning whether London would be able to run the Olympics smoothly. The most high-profile humiliation came when thousands of Brits jeered him after London's Mayor Boris Johnson mocked him at a concert to mark the end of the Olympic Torch relay. However, behind the scenes officials were even more scathing about the Republican presidential hopeful, describing his visit as a 'car crash' and comparing him unfavourably to Sarah Palin. Another official who met with the former Governor of Massachusetts said he was 'apparently devoid of charm, warmth, humour or sincerity'.

You’re just so smart.
Anonymous sources often live inside the reporter's head, telling him things he already believes, but lacks the balls to utter himself.
I’ll agree that Mitt is “worse than Sarah Palin”, but so are 99.9% of politicians in our country. As for this actually being bad, it’s more likely that the journalists wrote the story about Romney’s “gaffs” before his trip and then inserted events almost at random.
This is another non-issue to avoid discussing obama’s record.
1—96% of the UK is not Muslim.
If you think the UK is actually overrun by Muslims, you are yet another laughably ill-informed American. Please actually come here and see for yourself instead of parroting what FR, Fox News and Limbaugh say.....
2—Apologies that our sports stars cannot be as well behaved as your NBA, NFL and MLB stars......
3—Nice to see the respect that America’s best military ally, and the country who has fought and died in Iraq and Afghanistan alongside Americans, gets.
The vile vitriol on FR about Britain and the British bemuses me. I am at a loss to grasp what we have done to deserve it.
There have always been haters on both sides of the pond.
If we are third world, I hate to think what that makes you.
Other than China’s bitch.
British cuisine?.
English or Scots or Irish or Welsh?. Britain and England are not the same.
Scottish food for example is some of the finest natural produce you will find.
1—The missile launchers on apartment blocks was and is a deliberate policy and only a handful of local residents have whined about it. IMO, there is nothing wrong with it.
2—The Olympic traffic lane is controversial, but not inept.
My apologies for my “stiff-arsed Brit” comment. I was by no means directed at you or any of our other Conservative UK friends. Just the commies and PC crybabies like Johnson.
Apologies that we British are not superhuman like Americans, and therefore incapable of making errors.
The Atlanta games and the numerous debacles there were therefore obviously secretly our fault as well.
Two words:
Richard Jewell.
haha no offence taken....we both despise them types equally!
If David Cameron had said the same, he’d be attacked as a pompous Limey/Euro.
Romney was in our country as a guest. As such, what he said came across as rude.
I ag I suppose. I spent time in Britain many years ago and things have sure changed for the worse.
When you are a guest, show respect to your host and keep your mouth shut.
Lighten up, Kim.
As an Englishman I’m really loving this thread! There’s nothing that quite reinforces our natural sense of superiority quite as much as watching a bunch of Americans spitting out their dummies and stomping round spouting anti-British rhetoric worthy of the North Korean ministry of truth and all because of an article in a trashy MSM tabloid that most Brits wouldn’t believe if it told them bears sh1t in the woods!
Keep it coming, it’s the best laugh I’ve had all day! :D
So, when the Brits eat their crow - and they WILL eat crow - do you suppose that they will use Catsup or Ketchup? ;-)
