You do know that the British have London on “Severe Threat” of terrorism during the games? You do know that 35 items that looked like a bomb or a gun got by Heathrow Security last week. We also have one of the new 1200 Military Security officers stating that he has has no training and that he wouldn't know a bomb from a bulldog. All mitt did was to state the facts as the British government itself has said it has addressed. Now I despise mitt but this is just a counter attack to mitt's making hay of the Winston Churchill Bust controversy today. obamao pissed on the Brits... they know it and so does mitt.

He said that even with the best preparations mistakes happen at the Olympics. Clearly already there have been several trivial blunders.

I think Romney has the potential to be a very good president. If he doesn’t abandon conservative principles. Let him say and do what he wants now, and if elected let him tack to the right.

Did Willie tell them he spent $1.3 BILLION of the American taxpayers money in 2002 in his attempt to “save” the Olympics in SLC ???

50% again on top of what it was going to cost before he left his coworkers at Bain in the lurch and walked out on them in 1999 and went and muscled into running the Olympics...

Most of the money wasnt spent on the Olympics...

From the Congressional Record:

Senator McCain on the GAO Report

On Sept. 19, 2000, Sen. McCain, speaking in opposition to the Conference Report on the 2001 Legislative Branch Appropriations bill advised the Senate of details from the GAO’s report. As recorded in the Congressional Record, Sen. McCain stated,

“The GAO now determines that $1.3 billion—and some of those I will read: $974,000 for the Utah State Olympic Public Safety Command; $5 million for the Utah Communications Agency Network; $3 million to Olympic Regional Development Authority, upgrades at Mt. Van Hoevenberg Sports Complex; $2.5 million, Salt Lake City Olympics bus facilities; $2.5 million, Salt Lake City Olympics regional park-and-ride lots; $500,000, Salt Lake City Olympics transit bus loan, and on and on; $925,000 to allow the Utah State Olympic Public Safety Command to continue to develop and support a public safety program for the 2002 Winter Olympics; $1 million for the 2002 Winter Olympics security training; $2.2 million for the Charleston Water Conservancy District, UT, to meet sewer infrastructure needs associated with the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. What the Olympic games supposedly hosted and funded by Salt Lake City, which began in corruption and bribery, has now turned into is an incredible pork-barrel project for Salt Lake City and its environs.” — Sen. John McCain in the United States Senate, Sept. 19, 2000 - [Page S8731-S8748 - Congressional Record.]

How could Romney commit such a gaffe?

Artificially created gaffe if anything. Mitt did nothing wrong as he called it as he saw it. Imagine if things go wrong with the Olympics. Mitt would be held up as a idiot for not seeing the problems. Fact is the LSM will try with all their collective might to portray Mitt as a clown. Major palinization underway as we speak. Remember this started with an interview with Brian Williams. He's the one that sounded the call to discredit Palin. MSNBC just ran a Benny Hill styled London video of Mitt complete with theme music.

So did Romney say he didn’t like beans on toast..or malt vinegar on french fries er chips? No? Oh, he said he didn’t know if the Olympics would be successful. Well, what an insult! I’ll bet the British are up in arms about that terrible statement. (snicker)

I think Romney has the Left all in a tizzy because he was part of the team that turned an ugly fiasco that was the organizing committee for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics into a major success in the end. (For those old enough to remember clearly, the 2002 Winter Olympics committee was embroiled in a major bribery scandal and was going to lose a fortune financially. Romney led a team that cleaned up that mess and the games actually made a profit financially.)

As such, Romney--based on his own personal experience running the Olympics--just clearly stated that are the British ready to carry out the Olympics in terms of facilities, transportation and security safely. Given that there are still issues with security and the threat of a transit strike that could turn the Olympics into a traffic nightmare, no wonder the British are in tizzy when told the blunt truth.

It would be wise to avoid the Olympics. Especially this one.

This is a controversy ginned up by the British media, 99% of whom are probably for Obama. Most of the British “Conservative” Party, which is to the left of our Democratic Party (or was until Obama came along), also supports Obama. If Romney thought he was gonna be greeted with a ticker tape parade, he was sorely mistaken.

Seems like instead of wasting his walkin-on-water time here with us unappreciating peons during the primaries, Wee Willie Mitty should have been across the pond doing what he claims he does best...

“saving the Olympics”

Telling them ignorant Redcoats how its done...

Him with his gift and talent and special calling and all...

Romney will not get my vote but this is a completely ginned-up story.

First, the man does know how to run an Olympic Games, having done it himself. In that respect he is perhaps uniquely qualified to say what he said.

Second, he appears to have been repeating fact. The British Government did have to add security and there was a threatened strike. That’s not a ‘gaffe’ of any kind.

buy a clue.

Romney was merely repeating what the brits had already told him - so by repeating a fact they gave him, he’s insulting them?

The media is outdoing themselves to turn anything Romney says into a blunder - and they know that the majority of brain dead Sheeple will believe whatever they print.

oops - did I just insult you or am I just stating a fact?

I didn’t see an insult, I saw a direct answer to a question. There is disconcerting evidence that they may not be prepared... and I am probably the biggest Anglophile on FR. Not a Romney fan, but this criticism is undue.

Nope, he didn’t lie. But you go ahead and help us get four more years of Obama. It’ll make you feel theologically superior. You can lecture us how smart you were. (until Obama closes FR as a terror/hate site in a post victory executive order.)

And sorry sweetie, a landry list of every US government grant within 100 miles of SLC doesn’t mean it was to the USOC. Your traitor McCain is probably pissed that he didn’t get a bribe like in the Keating days, or his wife didn’t get the beer contract.

Wouolde I insult you if I said again that Wee Willie should keep his big fat trap shut ???

Hes there as a guest not as an official representative of the US but his out of order comments do reflect on us...

Since he is just stating the obvious why bother ???

Is that the type of presdient he would be ???

Running all over the world telling others how to run their affairs ???

Oh yes thats right...

Willie is a “Globalist”

so the rest of the globe is his concern...

We have to get our culture in line with the other “equal cultures”

Under Willie the UN would have a big say in our country...

“We are the World” etc
