Mitt Romney would restore "Anglo-Saxon" understanding to the special relationship between the US and Britain, and return Sir Winston Churchill's bust to the White House.
As the Republican presidential challenger accused Barack Obama of appeasing Americas enemies in his first foreign policy speech of the election campaign, advisers told The Daily Telegraph that he would abandon Mr Obamas Left-wing coolness towards London.
In remarks that may prompt accusations of racial insensitivity, one suggested Mr Romney was better placed to understand the ties between the countries than Mr Obama, whose father was from Africa. We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special, the adviser said of Mr Romney, adding: The White House didnt fully appreciate the shared history we have.
Mr Romney today embarks on an overseas tour of Britain, Israel and Poland designed to quash claims by Mr Obamas team that he is a novice in foreign affairs. It comes four years after Mr Obamas own landmark foreign tour, which attracted thousands of supporters.
He lands in London today in advance of meetings with David Cameron and other senior ministers tomorrow. He will also meet Ed Miliband and Tony Blair before attending two fund-raisers and the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

There are better ways to say what Romney’s advisor said.
Apperantly Mitt’s advisor is unaware of a rather significant movement for Scotland to gain independence from the United Kingdom. There is a vote in 2014 for that exact purpose. As a Scottish-American I’ve know about this for some time now..it has been a rather signficant debate in the UK for sometime now. All of the Celtic peoples in the UK are rethinking their relationship with England...but Scotland has moved from theoretical discussions to a serious movemnt to peacefully obtain her independence. Romney’s advisors need to be careful here...an independent Scotland will control a significant amount of oil in the North Sea, and they would seem to be very opposed to any nuclear warship presence in their ports.
Additionally, and likely more importantly on the domestic front, is the State-controlled media and the Obama Campaign will (and already is) going to spin “anglo-saxon” into a racial remark that will be a pain to have to endure. It was an effort to sound “smart” on the eve of a foreign policy trip.
Don’t try to sound anything other then sincere. Speak plainly, speak honestly, and speak respectfully..above all speak to the American people...not to the elitist crowd in DC and the EU...
