Now I just can’t agree there. I’ve seen waaaaaaaaay too many indications that animals have memory, in some cases even understanding.
But *food* animals...well, I reckon maybe their Maker saw a kindness in making em dumb, and those who raise them for a living know their quirks and tendencies better than anyone else.
I’ve raised pigs and they are very intelligent, including with their ability to bond with humans.
