I would like to know if he was on any meds (and/or illegal drugs).

And, whether he might have taken meds as a child or teen.

A ct scan for brain tumors might be worth doing, but for some reason, mostly I suspect meds.

Yep, medication is a good lead. The dependency on meds is a sign of not being able to deal with reality and to cope with good and bad.
