I'd wager the shooter is someone who recently began showing symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia.

In which case, his motivations are irrelevant, as are his politics, opinions or those of his parents prior to the schizophrenic break.

Motivation does indeed matter, especially to counter the MSM/gov lies.
