No way it kicked in.I used to work at clubs and you can’t kick them in.Someone had to open the door.
I posted about that a couple times this AM and pinged the big guy. I see it as a big, big problem, one that is not uncommon.

Yep we already know that. The door being kicked in makes no sense. Coming in the front door makes no sense. Perp would have been seen before entering theater. The door had no be opened by someone (imho). The door would open from the inside out. Wonder who opened the door?
Is there a report of the door being blown open with explosives? So far the only report I've heard was door was opened to perp from inside of theater. Simple question ... How was the door opened?

My first thought from the news reports also. Every exit door I have seen opens out. You would have to kick the door through the jamb to “kick it open”.
This is just a guess.
How about threading a length of small diameter stiff wire (like the safety wire for aircraft fasteners) through any gap between the door and jamb near the latch and popping the latch?
These obviously aren’t dead bolted since it’s a safety issue, just a spring latch keeping it in place if you pull from the outside.
Okay ... Who opened the door, or how was the door opened? Someone knows. I do not know. This is a relevant question. Would explain much.
Exit doors open outward so it would have been dang near impossible to kick in. It could have been opened by someone inside the theatre. The perp could have gone to an earlier showing and left the door wedged open slightly. An explosive charge is a possibility - in multiplex theatres, I frequently hear booms and blasts from films in the adjacent theatre - I likely wouldn’t have been concerned if the noise wasn’t extremely loud.
Not only does the door open out but to meet the standard codes it would be a steel fire door and could not be “kicked” in against the jamb. He either set it up from the inside to open or someone let him in.
a caller on one of the tv stations said the guy was in the theatre and took a cell phone call, but instead of going to the lobby, he went out the exit door....I surmiss he put something in the door to get back in....
