Most on here, including me, are actively involved in their community and politics. I spend a dozen or so evenings each year going door-to-door with candidates and, as you mention, encouraging younger people to get involved. With the press I usually find myself figuratively biting my lip for fear of giving them an opening. If more people got out and talked to their neighbors the press would not have the power it does as the gatekeeper of information.
I worded that weirdly:
McCain looked at two decades of Romney’s taxes in 2008 when Romney was looked at for VP(1988-2007) AND Romney just released his 2010 and 2011 taxes to whomever in 2012.
(Yeah, yeah he did his taxes before he knew what he’d be making.)
>> please explain to me precisely how voting for a statist, as Romney’s record wholly confirms him to be, strikes a blow against statism.
I don’t think electing Romney will strike a blow AGAINST statism, but I do believe it will strike less of a blow FOR statism than will electing the statist Obama with a proven record not only of statism but of actually hating America’s role in world leadership, and wishing to diminish it. In other words, Obama is a globalist statist with a marxist streak. Bad juju. KNOWN bad juju.
But let’s look at this election a different way.
You (circumstances) have forced me (the conservative voter) into a game of russian roulette (the election). I must use one of two revolvers (the two candidates). One revolver (Obama) has six rounds chambered. The other (Romney) has a single round chambered.
If I refuse to choose a revolver (refuse to vote, or vote third party) then you will just pick up the Obama revolver, point it at me, and pull the trigger and I will surely die (Obama will win).
What should I do? Well, as unhappy with my choice as I may be, the only one that makes any sense at all is to pick up the revolver that HAS A CHANCE of not killing me, yes?
That’s how I see this election. You do what you want; I’m going to do what is clearly in the best interest of my country and me personally.
No, it will favor the incumbent.
It's Math.
Please explain how a third party vote from an Independent, a third party vote from a disillusioned Democrat, a third party vote from me, a third party vote from a Libertarian, and a third party vote from a Green Party pinhead, all favor Obama.
Still no addressing Romney's stated support of the gay agenda, global warming, and state-run health care (he still defends RomneyCare), and no addressing his distinguished record in creating on-demand tax-funded abortion and appointing liberal judges in Massachusets.
No real addressing how electing this guy, and risking a mandate landslide for him, would serve to do anything but advance statism. Instead, I see "we can't survive another four years of Obama, because resistance is useless against Obama." Fear is all you've got, and fear untempered by courage usually provokes bad decisions.
I think there are as many rounds in the pistol Romney wields as the one Obama wields, and I think this because of Romney's RECORD. I think voting with the intent of seeing that neither of these guys gets a popular mandate is the equivalent of attempting removing rounds from the gun either one wields. You don't. Fair enough.
And I'd be interested to see also your mathematical proof that those five third-party votes wouln't detract from the popular mandate (as in percentage of total votes) received by either Obama or Romney.
At least that excludes “WE THE PEOPLE”
That's exactly what Conservatives have been telling you guys all along ~ that if you want to beat the mind-numbed knee-jerk robot-like Leftwingtards you have to run a Conservative, not another Leftwingtard!
Now, regarding improprieties in the primaries, Romney's forces definitely reached into the old trick bag in Virginia. And that raises a question for you to answer ~ just how many primaries is a faction allowed to trick before you are at all disturbed? Is one enough? Maybe 10? How about this, states with problems with primaries can do conventions ~ that's what Virginia is doing with the race for the Gubernatorial nomination next year ~ not even going to mess with a primary that would probably be tricked up by Bolling (the chief Mittbot).
In fact, he didn't even pull a majority of the votes in the combined primary/caucus totals ~ I believe some analysts give him about 30%.
Cold hard facts are cold hard facts. Your candidate is a loser.
Mr. RomneyCARE has protected, AND WILL protect,
his Obama on this.
Romney: "Obama was born in the United States"
Romney: "Obama Doesnt Need a Birth Certificate"
Romney: "The citizenship test has been passed"
White House Quotes Romney in Defense of Health Care
"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"
"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"
"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"
"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"
"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"
>> if you want to beat the mind-numbed knee-jerk robot-like Leftwingtards you have to run a Conservative, not another Leftwingtard!
That’s a great (although unproven) theory — but the reality is, we don’t HAVE one of those running. We’ll have to fight with the army we’re stuck with. I note that we, here at FR, couldn’t even agree on who that Conservative should have been. Talk about a fractured coalition. And if you want to play that “we warned you!” game, many of *us* were warning many of *you* that if you insisted on ripping the guts out of EVERYONE who wan’t “conservative enough” (i.e. Rick Perry) while you waited for Her Majesty Princess Sarah to (never) come, the inevitable result was going to be a Romney. Conservatives here threw away a strong push towards a conservative candidate because we couldn’t UNITE behind a decent man. Now see where we are. But as a mature pragmatic AMERICAN I’m going to do what must be done given the facts on the ground, not stomp my little feet and whine about it like a toddler.
>> Romney’s forces definitely reached into the old trick bag in Virginia.
Yeah, that sucked, big time, and I was furious about it at the time and I’m sorry for you because you actually live there. It’s one state, though — and Romney has enough delegates without Virginia’s. On the other hand, just look at what that bastard Obama’s DOJ helped to do in my state, Texas — we didn’t even have a fricking VOICE until too late (and then only by the grace of God and the partial LOSS IN COURT of the ‘rat scum).
So there you have it once again — with the Marxist In Chief, the danger is more than theoretical: Obama and his minions are ACTIVELY PURSUING disenfranchising conservative voices throughout this land!
That sorry son of a b!tch bastard rat monkey OBAMA HAS TO GO. Can you feel the bile rising in my throat towards him? I HATE that scumbag.
So you piss and moan and throw away your vote if you want to. There are only two things that MIGHT be EFFECTIVE at SCRUBBING OUT that evil — prayer and voting for the candidate that is opposing him that stands a good chance of winning — and I plan to do BOTH of them.
Two words:
Ross Perot.
Right!
(ain't no such thing)
So how are you going to make that happen?
Black Nagic at the convention?
This, though, is the last straw ~ they're outta' there.
Black Magic
Well, in Maine the last couple of times, the TEAparty and/or Paulistinians took over the state convention and platform.
It's a problem of his own making.
Regarding not agreeing on a single lifelong Conservative Republican, we only had three of those ~ out of 16 candidates!
We also had one well-known Leftwingtard (Romney) and 12 other junior grade candidates who were caught repeatedly aiding Romney in the debates, and elsewhere.
The game plan is pretty obvious ~ to run Romney with a team of seconds who would gobble down extraneous votes that would otherwise go to the three lifelong Conservative Republicans, and make his, Romney's, pitiful 20% and 30% vote totals look good in contrast ~ that's something to keep the weaker minded big money donors on the hook!
Guess it worked.
But we don't have a lifelong Conservative Republican candidate now, but you have an almost lifelong Democrat Leftwingtard candidate!
I see no reason to sell out my principles because you people are stupid! (Think of Ann when your read those words).
Not true that you’re hurting your own case? Oh, no, it’s true.
