I know a lot of people knew it was fake. Frankly, I never felt I had the competence to form a firm opinion so I’ve always been kind of an agnostic about all of this. However, there now seems to be a consensus forming among the experts and I’ll be interested in seeing what happens next.

We are the experts, we are today’s journalists and historians. We must be, as the “professional” journalists and historians have already surrendered!

This story transcends the contemporary political atmosphere, it affects every State, and it discredits our federation. The full truth about this story must be disseminated.

I was agnostic on the issue as well. Until the day this document was released on the WH website. Opened it up, looked at it....whoa. What the heck? I’ve used Photoshop for about 20 years and I knew right off that the anomalies could not be explained by a simple scan.

Subsequently there was some question on whether software optimization could have broken the thing into layers and produced the weird combination of aliased/anti-aliased letters within the same text block. That I don’t know...I am running a very old version that doesn’t optimize the same way.

But even if optimization can explain the pdf problems, why the *internal* anomalies in the document, quite aside from the computer forensic stuff?

We need answers.
